This December’s Arrowverse crossover gets more super by the minute.
The three-night, Legends-less crossover event — kicking off Sunday, Dec. 9, with a special airing of The Flash — will not only introduce viewers to Kate Kane aka Gotham vigilante Batwoman (played by Orange Is the New Black‘s Ruby Rose), but also return Superman (played by Supergirl‘s Tyler Hoechlin) to the heroic fray as well.
Kara’s cousin/James Olsen’s BFF won’t be going stag this time around, however. Nope, Supes’ No. 1 gal, intrepid reporter Lois Lane, is coming along for the ride. Get to sharing your dream casting for the role in the Comments below!
“We couldn’t be more excited to introduce Lois Lane to the Arrowverse,” Supergirl executive producers Jessica Queller and Robert Rovner said in a statement. “This dogged, determined and brave reporter will make for a strong partner to Superman and amazing addition to our universe of DC characters.”[pmc_inline_gallery]
Lois Lane’s notable live-action portrayers have included Teri Hatcher, Erica Durance, Noel Neill and Phyllis Coates, Kate Bosworth, Amy Adams and, of course, the late Margot Kidder.
Hoechlin to date has portrayed Clark Kent/Superman four times on Supergirl, most recently appearing in the CW series’ Season 2 finale.
Once again, this year’s Arrowvese crossover event will air Sunday, Dec. 9 through Tuesday, Dec. 11, comprised of the ninth episodes of The Flash, Arrow and Supergirl‘s new seasons.

Finally something to get excited about this year’s crossover. Not a fan of Arrowverse backdoor pilots ie Batwomen this year.
Same. Plus that chick playing batgirl is terrible. Gonna be skipping that one too I think.
She is not terrible! She good fit batwoman.. Too bad for you!
I love to see her action.. No matter what..
Perfect casting. She held her own in Meg– no Oscar, but solud– and will rock as Batwoman!
She falls into a lot of the same traps you see from inexperienced actors. I truly hope she is able to make the Batwoman role her own, but her acting in most movies and shows has been, well, terrible.
Big Blue needs his own show.
Yes!!!
Considering the promo they are doing for Batwoman it is more likely that the CW will pick up Batwoman and not Superman… I would watch both though! My only fear is that Batwoman would be Arrow replacement if they plan to end it after season 7, and I am definitely not ready for such thing!
Having a Superman series is not even on the CW’s radar. They have, ya know, Supergirl.
Yeah, it would be redundant. What would Superman do that Supergirl couldn’t do as easily? It’s almost that way with having Arrow and Batwoman. So maybe Arrow does get cancelled.
My guess is if the plan is to replace Arrow with Batwoman it will be announced right after the crossover. There has to be some build up for the last season of “Arrow” if this year is indeed the last season.
Do you just not know who Superman is?
You really think Supergirl, who is a side character in the Superman universe, could replace the Man of Steel?
Superman has the history, the villains, and the real popularity.
You can raise the stakes with Superman because of that, plus, they could do a show without some writers spewing liberal politics each week because they are butt hurt that Trump won.
@Marc C; I was with you right up til you brought politics into the equation. This is a comment section regarding Superheros, please don’t spoil it by bringing politics into the conversation. Now I agree with you, Superman does deserve his own show, I’m sure if they hire Greg
Berlanti to do it it’ll be great.
A give. As Batwoman is already on tap for her own show.
Arrow needs a reboot if it continues. I’d like to see a time jump like on Legends with diggle Jr in the suit. Arrow is famous for the flashbacks, so the flashbacks could tie the show to the current timeline of the other shows.
Let’s face it, the show has credibility issues now with its flashbacks as they appwar to span more than the 5 years he was missing.
I would say someone Sophia Bush-like. She might play a little older than Tyler Hoechlin’s Clark, but they should at least test her.
I immediatly thought of Sophia Bush when I read this. I don’t know of the CW could afford her though
She got her big break on One Tree Hill. I bet if they really wanted to, the CW could get her to come back to the network.
Agreed, I don’t think the CW would have trouble bringing her back if she thought it would be fun to do and it didn’t come with a lot of commitments.
Yes The CW would afford her go through.. You don’t know that..
Sophia Bush is only 6 years older than Tyler. That’s perfectly normal for a couple. And she looks much younger than her age. So if she were to get the part, never going to happen, it’d be not just believable, but amazing.
Also Clark was already Superman when Kara arrived at 14 so he’s way older than 30 hat Tyler Hoechlin actually is anyways.
I doubt they could afford her and I believe she has a development deal with FOX to star and produce her own show, so she might be busy working on that for her next project.
Oh god no, I can’t stand Sophia Bush, she’s too skinny and not a good actress either! Her being the only female on Chicago P.D. that they really focus on much, is one of things that turned me away from the show, after watching just a few of the first season! She wasn’t at all believable as a cop on their! But since I am sure Lois will just be their to be Clark/Superman’s main squeeze, it probably won’t matter who they pick, she won’t have much to do or say anyway, unless they do decide to make a Superman series!
Too skinny? Who ever said Lois Lane was supposed to be muscle bound? Teri Hatcher was fairly thin too when she did Lois & Clark. In fact I can’t really think of any beefy Lois Lanes.
Lois is supposed to be older than Clark on the show. ;)
Raya Meddine is my pick. Can Lois bring Lucy along for a small moment too, please? Surely she would have interesting interactions with newbie Colonel Haley?
Still, after how I was disappointed by the Kate Kane casting, I should probably temper the excitement.
Ooh, I love this choice! Especially with Jenna Dewan as Lucy.
Great.. was really weird that he wasn’t in the last cross-over. He needs to appear at least a couple of times each season on Supergirl.
I think that was because of the Justice League movie. But with no clear plans for a Man of Steel 2 anytime soon that leaves Superman available again.
Hilarie Burton
so so happy for this, omg. Been hoping for some more Superman to show up on Flash and Arrow, so happy to hear this
Jane Levy
Jessica Stroup for the win!
I’d love to see Kristin Kreuk as Lois!
Ewwwww…DEFINITELY not her! She’s horrible.
Agreed! Are the authorities done with their investigation of her involvement with the sex cult she lured Allison Mack to? The last I heard, they were still looking at her involvement, despite her claims of leaving before the crazy started. Regardless, no way!
Hell no. 8 seasons of smallville was enough.
Crystal Reed. #TeenWolfReuninon
She is the worst. Please no.
DEAR GOD NO
Now SHE would be fabulous!
No. Crystal Reed would be awful. She’s not a good actress, even for CW standards, and her huge lip fillers are really distracting on screen.
She’s now playing Abigail Arcane in DC Universe’s Swamp Thing series. So that eliminates her from contention.
Crystal Reed would make a Great Lois Lane, I Think. Or Adelaide Kane. Which might be a little awkward as she played bis sister in Teen Wolf but that would be amazing Casting.
Adelaide Kane would be a good choice.
I do like Adelaide. Not my first choice, but a good alternate.
Don’t mess this up CW/Supergirl writers/Berlanti Productions!
Glad to hear Superman will be there. Please fix that cape! Since they can’t use “oversaturation” as an excuse,Kal EL should have his own show.Trust me we as fans can handle TV AND Movies.
I love the ideas already posted suggesting Sophia Bush, Jessica Stout, or Adelaide Kane. All have been on the CW and we all know they love to recycle their actors. I can’t think of anyone myself. I think a Sophia Bush is the front runner for me.
How about Janel Parrish?
She might be busy since its very likely Netflix will be doing the next two books in the trilogy and then she has her Freeform show.
She’s in the new Pretty Little Liars spinoff on Freeform. Already has a job.
I am all Teen Wolf reunion… what about Crystal Reed?
Leighton Meester
Ooh. Another good suggestion.
Nina Dobrev
Emma Watson
How about Lucy Hale (as she isn’t currently so busy with her Show canceled) or Alexandra Daddario? It probably should be someone with a Bit of resemblance to Jenna Dewan Tatum…
Or what about Danielle Campbell? But she is probably Too young for that.
My Top Pick is Adelaide Kane and I do Think they are gonna use some CW actress as they Love to do that… 😃
I think Lucy would make a good Lois and she was a CW actress already and they like to repeat employees
Casting Tyler Hoechlin as Superman and Jenna DeWan as Lucy created a huge problem because Hoechlin reads as younger than DeWan (he looks 25, she looks 35) and thus, even younger than Lois than he ever should.
.
The only way I see to square this circle is to cast Crystal Reed as Lois. She was a decade older than the teenager Allison she played on Teen Wolf and looked to be playing closer to her own age when she played an ancestor of Allison’s during the show’s final year. IIRC, she showed a bit of chemistry with Hoechlin’s Derek on that show, too.
.
Given that Reed is a similar type to DeWan, I’m sure that the combination of costume, makeup, writing, and acting (you know, thea-tah!) could generate a Lois played by Reed who’s only a year older than DeWan’s Lucy.
I didn’t watch Teen Wolf, but Crystal Reed was Sofia Falcone on Gotham this past season. I could see this with all that you’ve said.
That was explained by Kryptonians don’t age as fast as humans. So in that world having an older looking Lois isn’t a problem. Especially considering Lois Lane and Cat Grant were co-workers and Cat Grant is obviously an older woman. In fact it would be weird if Lois looked too young.
Superman ages more slowly than humans. So it would be perfectly fine for Lois to look older than him. Keep in mind he was already an adult when Kara landed.
Crystal already looked her age when she was still supposed to be a teenager. So the age could perhaps work. But she didn’t have chemistry with Tyler in Teen Wolf and she’s also a terrible actress. I’d rather not want her to play Lois because she wouldn’t be able to pull it off.
Superman is meant to be 35/36 and look younger because he’s an alien and ages less quickly. Lois Lane is older than him, for this universe. Crystal Reed doesn’t look anywhere near 40. And while I loved her and teen wolf I’d rather see someone more age appropriate.
Sarah Shahi
Yes, yes, yes!
Honestly, I’m not really up to speed with all these late 20’s and early 30’s actors who could potentially play Lois. I’m sure whoever they pick will be a solid choice. I knew little to nothing about Tyler Hoechlin, but he ended up being a pretty good pick to play Clark/Superman.
It bears mentioning that this version of Lois will be the sister of Jenna Dewan’s Lucy Lane
And in regards to age was a co-worker of Cat Grant.
