I am always impressed by all the community support the Library receives.

First, the Albuquerque Public Library Foundation thanks all our community members who reached out to support our libraries during the recent City budget hearings. Several City Councilors said their offices were contacted by more than 200 individuals who expressed concerns over the cut to the Information Technology budget.

Next, we want to give a big thank you to everyone who contributed to this year’s Library Giving Time campaign. Your generosity provided nearly $35,000 for library programs and special projects. In addition, we are proud to welcome 65 NEW donors to our library family.

And finally, we have to recognize Dean Smith, who retired on May 17th from his position as Library Director at the Public Library of Albuquerque and Bernalillo County. We can’t thank him enough for all his contributions to our community through his 16 years of library leadership. He has been an active part of making our library system what it is today while remaining a valuable resource for the Foundation as we seek to support the programs that best serve our community.
