The History of the High Park Bus

The first bus route bearing the HIGH PARK name was inaugurated in 1937 when the buses operated between Howard Park Garage and High Park loop via Howard Park Avenue due to trackwork on the CARLTON on the Dundas Street bridge until 1938. A second attempt occurred in 1946 when the HIGH PARK name reappeared as a premium coach route from High Park to the Downtown core. The coach ceased operations in 1952 due to low ridership. In 1963, the name was revived as a shuttle to High Park

When the BLOOR-DANFORTH SUBWAY opened in 1968, bus service began operating on High Park Avenue itself by the new 30 LAMBTON bus which replaced the 30 DUNDAS on Dundas Street West. The 30 was extended south to High Park in June 1984 as a seasonal branch.

After the Junction Area Study was approved by the TTC in April 2019, service on Dundas Street West to Runnymede loop was served by the 40 JUNCTION bus and this resulted in the creation of the fourth incarnation of the HIGH PARK bus route, known as the 30 HIGH PARK. This route would be renamed to the 30 HIGH PARK NORTH to distinguish with the newly created 203 HIGH PARK service on June 18, 2023.

At 2.52 km distance, it is the shortest route currently on the TTC bus network.

30 HIGH PARK

October 13, 2019

As part of the Junction Area Study, service begins on the new 30 HIGH PARK bus, restoring the name had not been used since 1963 and replaces the 30 LAMBTON on High Park Road from High Park station to Runnymede loop. Buses on the 30 branch operate between High Park station, north on High Park Avenue, west on Dundas Street West to Runnymede loop retuning via reverse route. Seasonal service on the 30B operates into High Park itself via West Road and Colbourne Lodge Drive, during mid-May to Labour Day only. Service on Dundas west of Runnymede is provided by the 40 JUNCTION-DUNDAS WEST.

Service on this route operates 7 days a week whenever the subway is open and operates out of Queensway garage.
