Coincident with the opening of the SHEPPARD SUBWAY, 268 WARDEN NORTH service established between Don Mills station and 16th Avenue, replacing the 68B branch of the 68 WARDEN bus north of Steeles Avenue. The service on Warden north of Steeles was operated under contract with the Regional Municipality of York. Buses on this route operate out of Malvern garage.

Service operates during Mondays through Fridays, peak hours, midday and early evening, and on weekends and holidays during the day and early evening (16-20 minute intervals during peaks, 40 minutes off-peak).

Buses run east on Sheppard Avenue and north on Warden, duplicating service on 68 WARDEN between Sheppard and Steeles and various services on Sheppard between Warden and Don Mills.

Last day of service.

As service north of Warden was operated under contract, the TTC had no financial liability for milage operated north of Steeles. The Commission found, however, that the quicker connection with the subway at Don Mills did not generate enough riders to justify the duplication of service on Warden Avenue between Steeles and Sheppard and on Sheppard between Warden and Don Mills. Service replaced with the 68B branch of the 68 WARDEN route, operating between 16th Avenue and Warden station.
