Hosted by Boulder Klub Lëtzebuerg (BKL) and Boulder Klub Mamer (BKM) — Luxembourg's second annual Women's Bouldering Festival has been announced, so it's time to cut loose for charity.

2023 marked the first ever Women's Bouldering Festival, with climbers of all backgrounds making waves in Mamer alongside the event's charitable mission for breast cancer coalition Europa Donna Luxembourg. Last year they raised €1,400 with the participation of more than 100 people — and this year they're proud to raise funds for Europa Donna Luxembourg once again.

But what is bouldering exactly? WBF wants the the greater public of Luxembourg to know: "Bouldering can be described as an activity in which people climb up and over rocks or artificial rock walls at fairly low heights without using rope". And if you'd like to study up on the terminology of the sport, you can find a massive glossary here (which can also tell you a bit more about what you'll be doing!)

Reflecting on the success of last year's event, WBF member Tabitha Mann described the aim of organisers to "host an event in Luxembourg that both celebrates and empowers women in bouldering," and to create "something inclusive of all genders, ages, and bouldering skill levels".

Anyone (even men!) will be able to join the Festival at Parc Brill in Mamer on Saturday the 28 September 2024, from 10.00 a.m. to 8.00 p.m., and registration can be arranged through their website here.

And lest anyone forget that the event will be raising funds for a good cause, Europa Donna president Mariette Fischbach expressed the charity's gratitude upon receiving last year's donation — noting that 2023's Women's Bouldering Festival "contribution will greatly assist our efforts to support breast cancer patients and their families, as well as fund essential research projects. We thank BKL and BKM and the entire climbing community for their support."
