Dilpreet Singh misses out as Hockey India names 27 core probables for pre-Olympic camp

Striker Dilpreet Singh was the notable absentee from an otherwise tried and tested names announced by the Hockey India on Thursday for the 27 core probables for the men's team's pre-Olympic national camp.
The camp follows the Indian team's assignment in the FIH Hockey Pro League, where they currently hold the fourth position with 24 points from 16 matches.
The camp will be held from June 21 to July 8 at the SAI centre in Bengaluru.
The Indian team finds itself in a challenging Pool B at the Olympics, alongside formidable opponents such as Belgium, Argentina, New Zealand, Australia, and Ireland.
The Tokyo Games bronze-medal winners will start their Olympic campaign against New Zealand on July 27.
Craig Fulton, the chief coach of the Indian men's hockey team, expressed his satisfaction with the team's performance in the Pro League, stating that competing against the world's top teams provided his side with valuable experience.
"We are looking to start an important block of training in this camp, and we need to make sure that we are in the best form ahead of the Paris 2024 Olympics. The players have learned a lot from their matches in the FIH Hockey Pro League 2023/24," he said.
"It has helped us in realising where we need to improve. We have a lot of time to work on those areas. We have a strong mix of players who are capable of winning anything," the South African added.
