NEW DELHI: The Tehri Garhwal constituency in Uttarakhand witnessed a closely contested election. Mala Rajya Lakshmi Shah of the Bharatiya Janata Party emerged victorious, securing 462,603 votes, which was 272,493 more than her nearest rival. Jot Singh Gunsola of the Indian National Congress finished second with 190,110 votes, trailing the winner by a significant margin of 272,493 votes.

Independent candidate Boby Panwar secured the third position with 168,081 votes, falling short of the winner by 294,522 votes.Navneet Singh Gosain of the Rashtriya Uttarakhand Party received 10,026 votes, while Nemchand of the Bahujan Samaj Party obtained 6,908 votes. Brij Bhushan Karanwal of the Bhartiya Rashtriya Ekta Dal and independent candidates Sardar Khan Pappu and Vepin Kumar Aggarwal secured 3,570, 3,275, and 3,216 votes, respectively.
Rampal Singh of the Peoples Party of India (Democratic) received 2,362 votes, followed by independent candidates Sudesh Tomar and Prem Dutt Semwal, who obtained 2,268 and 2,164 votes, respectively. The NOTA (None of the Above) option was chosen by 7,458 voters in the constituency.
Tehri Garhwal is one of the five Lok Sabha constituencies in Uttarakhand. It is a General category Lok Sabha seat. It constitutes parts of Dehradun district, Tehri Garhwal district and the entire Uttarkashi district.
The voting in Tehri Garhwal in the Lok Sabha election 2024 took place on 19 April in the first phase.In the Lok Sabha election 2024, the voter turnout in Tehri Garhwal was 51.7%. The voter turnout in Tehri Garhwal in the Lok Sabha election 2019 was 58.87%.Mala Rajya Lakshmi Shah of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Jot Singh Gunsola of Indian National Congress (INC), Nemchand of Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), and Brij Bhushan Karanwal of Bhartiya Rashtriya Ekta Dal are among the key candidates contesting from Tehri Garhwal in the General election 2024.

In the Lok Sabha election 2019, Mala Rajya Laxmi Shah of BJP won the seat with a significant majority, securing 64.84% of the total votes cast (5,56,120 votes). Pritam Singh from Indian National Congress (INC) was the runner up with 30.57% of the total votes (2,62,171 votes). There was a margin of 2,93,949 votes between the two candidates.
Mala Rajya Laxmi Shah of BJP had also won the seat in the Lok Sabha election 2014 with 58.3% of the total votes cast (4,43,199 votes). Saket Bahuguna of Indian National Congress (INC) secured second position with 2,52,971 votes (33.28% of total votes). There was a margin of 1,90,228 votes between the two candidates.


Rural and urban voters are approximately 930,465 (62.3%) and 563,059 (37.7%) respectively.
