Kairana election results 2024 live updates: SP's Iqra Choudhary wins with over 5 lakh votes

NEW DELHI: The counting of votes for the Kairana Lok Sabha election 2024 is completed. The constituency of Uttar Pradesh went into polling in the first phase of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections on April 19, with a voter turnout of 62.46%. Prominent candidates contesting this time include Pradeep Kumar (BJP), Iqra Choudhary (SP), and Sripal (BSP).
SP's Iqra Choudhary won by 69,116 vote margin, followed by BJP'S Pradeep Kumar and BSP's Sripal

The Kairana Lok Sabha constituency, established in 1962 is located in the Shamli district and includes five assembly constituencies: Kairana, Shamli, Thana Bhawan, Nukud, and Gangoh.Initially won by an independent candidate, it later saw representation from the Socialist Party, Janata Party, and Congress. The Samajwadi Party claimed victory in 1996, followed by the BJP in 1998, the Rashtriya Lok Dal twice consecutively, the BSP in 2009, and the BJP in 2014.
A notable by-election occurred in May 2018, where Tabassum Hasan, supported by the opposition, triumphed against BJP Mriganka Singh.

In the 2019 elections, BJP Pradeep Kumar secured victory with 5,66,961 votes, defeating SP’s Tabassum Hasan who garnered 4,74,801 votes, while Congress Harendra Singh Malik received 69,355 votes.
Kairana encompasses approximately 261,399 Scheduled Caste (SC) voters, constituting approximately 15.6% of the total electorate. However, there are reportedly no Scheduled Tribe (ST) voters in the constituency.
In terms of rural-urban distribution, rural voters form the majority in Kairana, comprising approximately 1,273,480 individuals, which accounts for approximately 76% of the total electorate. Conversely, urban voters constitute approximately 402,152 individuals, making up around 24% of the electorate.
During the 2019 Parliament Election, the total number of voters in the Kairana seat was recorded at 1,675,632.
