Supriya Sule mocks NCP for not getting berth, MP hits back
PUNE: A war of words erupted on Monday between NCP (SCP) working president Supriya Sule and the newly-inducted minister in the Modi 3.0 govt, Murlidhar Mohol, over the former's comment that he should work for Pune city and not for private contractors. Mohol won from the Pune Lok Sabha seat on a BJP ticket.
Talking to mediapersons, Sule said: "Pune has a minister now and we are happy about it.
We only hope that the use of that post should be for the betterment of the city and not for contractors."
Mohol took to his X handle to respond. "Going by Pune's political culture, a congratulatory message was expected from you (Sule). But the comment shows your narrow mindset. You, who were born with a golden spoon, are not able to digest the fact that a person like me from a humble background has become minister. As for contractors, who has nourished them? Who are partners of big contractors in Pune and the rest of Maharashtra? The entire state knows it," he wrote in Marathi. Mohol comes from a modest family of farmers.
Taking a dig at the Ajit Pawar-led NCP, Sule also said that it's not a surprise that his party has been kept out of the central ministries. "How they (BJP) treat the other factions of NCP and Shiv Sena is their internal matter. In the last 10 years (of the NDA regime), I have seen very closely in Parliament how they handle their allies. I am not at all surprised," Sule said.
Sule compared Congress-led UPA and BJP-led NDA. "Congress always went beyond the numbers game and treated its allied partners with respect," she said.
