In 2023, the Karnataka government authorized the Karnataka State Examination and Assessment Board to hold three yearly exams for Class 10 (SSLC) and Class 12 (II PUC). This directive has been implemented for the 2023-24 academic year. Consequently, the school education department in Karnataka has eliminated the supplementary exams for SSLC and II PUC. The second and third exams are known as Exam 2 and Exam 3.
Regular students are required to take the first exam, while repeater and private candidates have the opportunity to sit for the second and third exams to improve their scores. Regardless of how many exams a student takes in the same subject, the highest score will be recorded on the final marks card. However, the marks card will not indicate which exam the scores were from.
The Karnataka School Examination and Assessment Board had declared the SSLC main exam result for 2024 on May 9, which showed an overall pass percentage of 73.40%.
