Push back Bangladeshi infiltrators, HC tells govt
Ranchi: The Jharkhand high court on Wednesday ordered the state govt to take immediate steps to push back illegal immigrants from Bangladesh who have infiltrated into the state through the Santhal Pargana region.
A division bench of Justices Sujit Narayan Prasad and Arun Kumar Rai was hearing a PIL filed by Daniel Danish.
The court ordered the deputy commissioners of Deoghar, Pakur Dumka, Sahebgunj, Godda and Jamtara to prepare an action plan and take steps to stop refugees from entering from Bangladesh.

The court ordered the chief secretary to also intervene in the matter and coordinate with the DCs of the districts comprising Santhal Pargana. The bench in an oral observation said illegal immigrants have entered the state and are availing all benefits. This ought to be stopped and steps should be taken by the govt to send them back, it said.
The case will again be heard on July 18.
The court also said that illegal immigration is not a concern of a district or the state but the whole country. The demography of the area will undergo a drastic and unwanted change which will affect the tribal populace of the santhal parganas, said petitioner Daniel Danish.
