As per the 2011 census, the population of Daman and Diu stands at around 243,000, with a gender distribution of 52% men and 48% women.

In the 2019 Lok Sabha election, BJP candidate Lalubhai Babubhai Patel retained his seat with 37,597 votes. Congress candidate Ketan Dahyabhai Patel came second with 27,655 votes, while independent candidate Umesh B. Patel secured 19,938 votes.
In the 2014 election, Lalubhai Babubhai Patel of the BJP defeated Ketan Dahyabhai Patel of the Congress by a significant margin. Lalubhai received 46,960 votes compared to Ketan’s 37,738 votes, showcasing the BJP’s strong presence in this constituency.
