Raipur: In view of the monsoon, the Chhattisgarh School Education Department has directed all district collectors to repair dilapidated schools. The secretary of the School Education Department has issued an order to ensure that the repair work is completed using funds other than DMF (District Mineral Foundation) or CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility).
In an order released by the school education secretary Siddharth Komal Pardeshi, it has been instructed to discontinue conducting regular classes in any of the dilapidated school buildings to avoid severe accidents.
The classes could be carried out in community buildings or any other govt buildings temporarily, said a press release.
Collectors have been ordered to inspect all school buildings in their districts within three days and carry out necessary repairs. This is in line with the ongoing School Jatan Yojana, which focuses on identifying and repairing dilapidated school buildings and constructing additional classrooms. Funds have already been allocated for this purpose.
Pardeshi emphasized that the safety of school children is the department’s top priority. The new academic session began on June 26, with schools across the state celebrating the School Entrance Festival. Repair works should be done on priority in places where there are unsafe buildings to ensure safety, the release added.
