Clergy rejig: 25 parishes to get new priests
PANAJI: Twenty-five parishes in the Archdiocese of Goa and Daman will get new parish priests from June.
The Archdiocese has appointed 22 priests as parish priests in Goa, and three in Dapadda, Silvassa, and Diu.
Fr Simon Godinho has been appointed vice-chancellor of the Archdiocese and Fr Candido Fernandes as director of the Pastoral Institute of Old Goa.
The appointments will all take effect from the beginning of the pastoral year 2024, which begins in June.
Twenty-eight parishes in the Archdiocese will get new assistant parish priests, and eight chapels will receive new chaplains. Fr Eremito Rebelo has been appointed chaplain of Guirdolim-Chandor.
In addition, Fr Raegan Fernandes has been appointed director of the vocation commission for diocesan clergy and prefect of the discipline of the Minor Seminary of Our Lady, Saligao. Fr Aniceto Coutinho has been appointed assistant director, Hospicio do Clero, Margao, and Fr Leslie Noronha assistant director of the St Joseph Vaz spiritual renewal centre, Old Goa.
