PANAJI: Three construction workers died at Kundaim on Sunday, after the retaining wall, next to their hut in which they were resting, collapsed.
Two of the deceased labourers are from Bihar and one from Odisha. A fourth from Bihar escaped. They were casualties of the heavy rainfall which pounded the state on Sunday, leading the IMD to issue a red alert for the day.

Several parts in Panaji — Patto, Mala, Campal and Miramar — were seen going underwater.
Rivers Valvanti in Bicholim, and Talpona and Galibaga in Canacona were seen swelling, causing flood-like situation, submerging several key roads. The key road at Paroda also went underwater.
Several residents were stranded in their homes due to the inundation in Guirim, Calvim and Bicholim.
Numerous trees crashed onto roads affecting traffic flow. The falling trees also left houses damaged across the state. Three landslides in Ponda taluka, cut off these roads for traffic movement for hours.
3 Kundaim workers crushed as destruction pours on state
Heavy rain snuffed out the lives of three workers on Sunday after a compound wall collapsed on their makeshift home at the Kundaim Industrial Estate.

The incessant rainfall triggered floods and landslides, washed out roads, destroyed homes and fields, and damaged power lines as emergency responders struggled to cope with piling rescue calls.
Originally billed as a day of yellow alert, Sunday's raging downpour caught everyone by surprise, as streams and rivers began to overflow.
The directorate of fire and emergency services personnel from the Kundaim fire station received a call at 3pm that a compound wall at the Kundaim Industrial Estate had buckled, burying a few men underneath.
The deceased have been identified as Dilip Kumar Yadav, 37, and Mukesh Kumar Singh, 38, from Bihar; and Trinath Nayak, 47, from Odisha.
"Four men who were working for Southern Engineering Project had created a residence along a compound wall. They were sleeping when the wall fell," said Sushil Morjakar, the Kundaim fire station officer. He added, "One person, Ankit Kumar Yadav, woke up because of the sound of the crash and escaped with minor injuries. The wall collapsed as the heavy rain loosened the soil."
Emergency responders received 153 calls for assistance till 6pm on Sunday.
Vital roads at Mopa, Calvim, Curchorem, Borim, Kavlem, Bandora, and Guirim also went underwater, marooning several vehicles. At least one vehicle, an SUV, was washed away at Nanoda-Assonora, after the driver ignored warnings.
Rainwater entered houses at Davorlim, Navelim. Locals accused the Davorlim panchayat of doing nothing about the annual crisis of flooding.
The Valpoi fire station received a call at 10:30pm that a person was trapped in a waterlogged house near Dhangarwada at Ghonteli village. Efforts were on to rescue the person.
The low-lying areas and roads at Guirim were waterlogged. Many vehicles were trapped as motorists failed to gauge the depth of the water.
