HC cautions police stations over encroachments near drainage channels in Cuttack
Cuttack: The Orissa HC has warned that respective police stations will be held accountable for the reappearance of encroachments near drainage channels in Cuttack city, after eviction.
The word of caution came while the special bench was hearing about obstacles in the work of connecting drains from different areas to the main stormwater channel/box drain on Thursday.

Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC) counsel Debashis Nayak submitted the main problem is that once the encroachments are removed from the drains, they are again encroached upon.
Taking note of it, the two-judge bench of Justices S K Sahoo and V Narasingh said, “Encroachment of public property obstructs and upsets planned development, ecology and sanitation. We make it clear that in and around of any box drain or open drain areas or surface drains area, if there is any encroachment and the same is removed by the CMC authorities, if any further encroachment takes place, the inspector in-charge of the concerned police station shall be held accountable for the same.”
