KURUKSHETRA: A man has been arrested under charges of murdering his wife, while his minor son has been kept under observation in Kurukshetra, said district police spokesman on Monday.
The arrested accused has been identified as Khemchand of Dharampur Maithra in Sambhal district of Uttar Pradesh (UP), who presently lives in community center of Bahadarpura in Pipli, Kurukshetra.
Khemchand was produced before the court which sent him to judicial custody and his minor son to a child observation home at Madhuban.
As per the police spokesman, Khemchand concocted the story of murder of his wife.
“On July 2, in his complaint to police, Khemchand said he worked as a mason. He was married to Savitri 19 years ago in Budaun district of UP and he was living on rent at a community centre in Pipli for last nine months. Khemchand concocted a story that on July 1, at about 12:30 am, when he was sleeping with his family, two men came and took his wife along. He said when he chased the men, the fled the spot after making her unconscious”, said police.
Khemchand said he then called Dial 112 service and took his wife to civil hospital in Kurukshetra, where doctors declared her dead.
The police spokesman said the team of Thanesar Sadar SHO inspector Baljit Singh arrested Khemchand under charges of murder of his wife Savitri on Sunday.
Inspector Baljit said, “Khemchand himself murdered his wife and to mislead the investigation, he concocted false story. The accused could not bear his wife’s illicit relationship with somebody else and in grudge of same, he murdered his wife.”
