Advanced Training Seminars

Navigating-Safe-Touch-2

This 2-day workshop will revolve around the safe use of touch, providing you with practical approaches that will support you in using (or not using) touch with the folks you work with. The foundations of this course are based on psychedelic ethics, somatic and relational psychedelic therapy, and mindfulness. You will also be taught and given the opportunity to practice a titrated approach to touch that can be done as prep work to build somatic safety and embodied connection before the medicine session. This leads to increased safety, more embodied experiences, healing relational wounds, and more confidence in navigating this area in your psychedelic therapy practice.

Topics covered:

  • Building on a grounded, boundaried sitting practice
  • Insight dialogue (interpersonal mindfulness)
  • Somatic therapy frameworks
  • Guidelines/ agreements for touch
  • Ethics and building safety
  • Enactments and corrective experiences
  • Listening to the head vs. Listening to the body
  • Navigating safe touch as prep work
  • Stan Grof and use of touch in holotropic breathwork
  • Useful techniques of touch between co-therapists for grounding and self-care

We’ll have plenty of opportunities for questions and discussion. Come expecting personal and professional enrichment!

Internal Family Systems

IFS-training

The Internal Family Systems (IFS) model is a rapidly emerging model of therapy due to the remarkable results it is showing with clients and the ease it brings to practitioners. Advocated by leaders in the fields of traumaaddiction, and mental health in general, this non-pathologizing, evidence-based modality offers practitioners the ability to facilitate a client’s own healing from distress, relieving the pressure on the practitioner and countering burnout and/or vicarious traumatization.

IFS is rooted in the understanding that the personality is multiple and operates as a system of parts with different roles, and that each individual also has a compassionate and curious “Self” (highest self/best self) that can and should lead the system. This understanding applies as much to mental health professionals as it does to clients.

Through a variety of teaching modalities, including experiential exercises and didactic teaching, participants in the day will have the opportunity to experience their own parts as well as understand how the IFS model may be applied in their work. There will be a live demonstration of an IFS session and ongoing Q&A throughout the day.

LEARNING OUTCOMES:

  • Understand how multiplicity is the basis for the personality system
  • Recognize their own “parts” that inform their work with vulnerable populations
  • Gain clarity on how Self-led healing occurs and the role of the therapist in trusting and facilitating the internal work of the client’s system
  • Appreciate how both end of life care as well as preparation for and integration of psychedelic sessions may be enhanced through using the IFS model

PARTICIPANTS: Practitioners who are interested in enriching their clinical skill set and learning how the IFS model may be applied in their work.

SCHEDULE: August 12, 2024 - 11-3pm PT

LOCATION: Online, Zoom link provided prior to the session

FEES: Members: $129, Non-Members: $159 (+tax)
