Nadia Pizzimenti Will Make You Want Snake-Print Pants

“It’s like granny meets Roberto Cavalli”

Welcome to Stylist Sessions, the new series where we ask fashion stylists to shop their closets and show us how they wear a beloved item in different ways. Consider it proof that there’s more than one way to rock WFH style.

“Truthfully, I am that person wearing jeans who everyone yells at,” says Toronto fashion stylist Nadia Pizzimenti. “
I live in denim! Plus, when I get ready for the day it makes me feel like the world is still turning.”

With her styling work on pause, Pizzimenti has been spending her time re-energizing, watching films and reading books for inspiration and brainstorming future shoot concepts. “Instagram has been my connection to the fashion community during this time. The content pouring out is really quite amazing.” To stay further connected to the local industry, Pizzimenti has embraced Zoom meetings and supports the local industry through shopping when she can.

Pizzimenti puts a lot of thought into every purchase. “When you invest in a quality garment or something you really love, you have a different relationship with it over something you bought on a whim that you’ll probably end up tossing next season.” Her best shopping advice is to ask yourself a lot of questions, “Do you need it? Does it fit well? Will it wash well? Will you love it six months from now? How many outfits can you work this piece into?”

For this styling exercise, Pizzimenti pulled out a pair of beloved snake print pants from Zara. “I do love a good reptile print; it’s basically a neutral in my books and wears well with a lot of things in my closet. This is a great example of not having to spend a lot on an investment piece.”

Set Days

“I like playing with colours and prints; here I paired a graphic tee from Nouveau Riche Vintage with vintage jewellery and sandals (also from Nouveau Riche).  This is something I would likely wear on set, comfortable but still fun.”

Pretend party

“This is a perfect no-fuss evening look.  I love this oversized blazer from The Frankie shop. The shape and colour do all the work, so I added simple accessories like these hoops from Armed, my favourite pearl pendant necklace from Beaufille, Reformation sandals and a mini purse from Aldo.”

Picnic daydream

“I have been day dreaming a lot about picnics in the park lately, and this look is inspired by that. I like the unexpected combo of the granny cardigan with the reptile print. It’s like granny meets Roberto Cavalli. I added some summery accessories including strappy sandals, a straw bag I picked up in a market in Morocco, and a big blue scrunchie.”

Running around the city

“This look is a culmination of all my classics; it’s the perfect look for transitional weather and running around the city. I like the pairing of the casual items like the the Erdem x H&M Hoodie and adidas Recons with dressier pieces like the Khaite trench coat and Chanel glasses.”
