Beauty’s Most Sought-After Brands Just Landed at The Bay

This is big: We’re talking Kevyn Aucoin, Susanne Kaufmann and more

Today marks a huge day for Canadian beauty lovers: The Bay has just announced a partnership with premium beauty retailer Space NK. Starting now, you can shop some of beauty’s most in-demand—and hard-to-find-in-Canada—brands right on thebay.com. The curated offering includes cult-favourites like Kevyn Aucoin, Susanne Kaufmann, By Terry, R+Co and more.

“This is a beauty game-changer for the Canadian consumer,” says Jo Osborne, The Bay’s SVP Beauty, noting that Space NK at The Bay will bring “a collection of some of the best brands in the world” to Canadian shoppers.

If you’re unfamiliar, Space NK started out as a shop selling smoothies and buzzy beauty products in London’s Covent Garden in 1993 and has gone on to become an international success story, with 72 stores across the U.K. and 29 in the States. Put it this way: A beauty brand making it onto Space NK’s shelves is kind of like an emerging designer getting a page in Vogue: the ultimate stamp of approval.

“It really is an incubator for discovery,” says Osborne. “It’s a destination to uncover some of the most coveted indie and luxury beauty brands spanning skincare, haircare, makeup and apothecary goods.”

Space NK at The Bay is launching with 17 brands never before carried at the storied Canadian retailer. There’s a strong focus on skincare, as that’s “been fundamental in the homes of Canadians this past year and we have seen a real surge in the interest and investment in this space,” says Osborne. Highlights include Eve Lom, Sunday Riley, Tata Harper and the aforementioned Susanne Kaufmann (fun fact: actor Sarah Gadon is such a fan of the brand, she once travelled to Austria to get a facial from the founder’s protégé).

There’s also a sizeable hair product lineup featuring Christophe Robin, Philip B, Virtue and R+Co; candles by Boy Smells; and exquisite makeup courtesy of Chantecaille, By Terry and, of course, Kevyn Aucoin, the late legendary makeup artist who forever changed the way we paint our faces.

Starting in early October, Canadian shoppers will also get to live out the full Space NK experience at The Bay’s Toronto, Montreal and Vancouver flagships. “Beauty is so much about experience—touching and feeling product on your skin and playing with textures and colours to know what works best,” says Osborne. “We are creating exciting environments in store for consumers to test and be playful with brands.”

But even if you can’t make it to a store, todays announcement has just made shopping for beauty in Canada infinitely more fun.

Here, we round up seven must-try standouts from Space NK at The Bay
