HCI EARNS A NATIONWIDE FOUR-YEAR WAIVER TO CONDUCT OPERATIONS OVER PEOPLE

HCI JOINS A SMALL SELECT GROUP OF INITIAL COMPANIES ENTRUSTED BY THE FAA TO OPERATE OVER PEOPLE

HCI NEWS Minneapolis, Minnesota, October 9, 2020: HCI is excited to announce that it has earned a four-year nationwide waiver from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to conduct drone operations over people.  Current FAA regulations do not allow for drone operations over people without a waiver.

HCI earned its operations over people waiver by clearly demonstrating to the FAA that HCI has a considerable focus on safety and rigorous flight processes for all of its operations.  The nationwide four-year waiver gives HCI the ability to provide even more value to its customers with an expanded ability to conduct operations for uses like active worksites, events, and recreation.

“This is exciting news and a big step forward for HCI.  Our nationwide four-year waiver demonstrates a high level of trust by the FAA in our flight operations maturity and safety,” said Jim Hughes, CEO of HCI.  “We are one of the few companies who has earned this level of trust with the FAA.  This waiver helps us bring even more value to our customers and do so even more safely.”

HCI operates with a safety-first mindset. HCI has a rigorous pilot training program that focuses on flight safety and repeatable flight operating processes. All operations on this waiver follow HCI’s stringent flight safety protocols, including an integrated parachute system.

“HCI’s core mission is to help improve people’s lives and the planet by providing innovative solutions and services to challenges that matter. This waiver is a demonstration of our core mission in action.  It will help us to unlock new sources of value for our customers,” added Jim Hughes.
