In celebration of Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympics Games, Dr. Jeongshim Lee, Director of #CentreinROK, met with Philippe Bertoux, Ambassador of France in Republic of Korea. UN Women and The International Olympic Committee (IOC) have jointly launched the “Gender Equality Through Sport Bridging” Project in 2023, a new initiative that will use sport as a tool to advance gender equality and prevent gender-based violence. #GenderEquality is fundamental to achieving just societies, thriving economies and sustainable development. UN Women engages the private sector to advance gender equality throughout their value chain by implementing the Women’s Empowerment Principles (WEPs). Since 2019, the Asia-Pacific community of #WEPs Signatories has grown from less than 600 to nearly 2,600 today! The tremendous uptake in commitments is promising, but more needs to be done. New research estimates that it will take 134 years to achieve global gender parity. We need urgent action, new solutions, and innovative approaches coming from diverse stakeholders, including the private sector. In partnership with the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, we are launching a bold new initiative to drive change: The UN Women Gender Action Lab. Join the launch event on July 3 from 13:00-14:00 (Bangkok time) and share your thoughts to help us co-create innovative solutions. Register now to save your spot: https://lnkd.in/g-FX_Es2
