Check your dimensions! This board is not standard
I really wanted to live this board, it looks great and uses good components. However, it's really irresponsible on ASUS' part to make the dimensions so non-standard.I decided to return the board initially when I realized that my Noctua NH-U12A won't fit. Then I saw some reports that removing the SSD top heatsink may help. Barely, but it did. Such a simple thing to adjust dimensions of to allow for some of the most popular coolers- an SSD heatsink. Why would they make it more restrictive than needed? So I cancelled my return and started the build, only to discover more inconsitencies. RAM - if it's just a couple mm thicker than just a bare stick, then the SSD ribbon starts pushing on it, bending it to the side in my case. I thought maybe that's ok. But then, someone at ASUS decided that it's ok to extend the casing on the back of the board 5mm beyond the board itself. You know, it's an ITX standard for a reason - it standardizes the dimensions, why would you choose to willy-nilly violate them like that? Now the board is completely impossible to install and I have to start the return process again.Very disappointed, whilebI can't really give it a 1 star rating, because my issues may not apply to everyone. Still, looks like my next board will be from some other brand.

Asus has had it's fair share of drama but this board is working well for me. I have a 14700K CPU which has worked flawlessly since purchase. No crashes, no issues. I've updated BIOS without issue. I am also using a 10 Gig ethernet card in one of the M.2 slots that is working perfectly. Usually that type of obscure hardware causes issues, but it just worked.

I wanted to love this motherboard, and I did. Right up until I inserted a Gigabyte Aorus PCIE5 10000, PCIe 5.0 SSD and got 3.0 speeds. Changing a BIOS bifurcation setting allows 4.0 but we got this board specifically for testing 5.0 SSDs and it doesn't work. Returned the first and got a second. Same deal.

I've had to amend this review because I finally got to a top-level tech who told me about a switch on the riser board with the front panel connections that comes set to PCIe 3.0. That needs to be set to Auto to provide PCIe 5.0.

Previously, three interactions with tech support mentioned nothing about this switch and one told me to return the board. I feel bad about that but...

Now I love the board. It's compact, has Thunderbolt 4 and USB 3.2x2 (20GBps) on board and is perfect for our testing.

Overall I'm pleased with this purchase. I'm running a 13600k , 32GB of Corsair Vengeance DDR5, and a Samsung 1TB 980 NVMe SSD. Has been rock solid since boot up the first time with no issues at all. I'm running in XMPP mode also with no issues and letting the UEFI BIOS handle any auto overclocking at the moment, though I have not really pushed it super hard even though I could.

Here are a few things to know:
- The Z height on this board could be a problem for some. From encroaching into areas in SFF cases to issues with super large fan coolers or water blocks, the CPU socket it like building on a lot where a previously imploded building was in a skyscraper city. Doable, but also can be limiting.
- Part of that Z height issue is the double stacked NVMe slots create a lot of height on a side of the board that sometimes doesn't have any. The manual is also not clear about which slots are PCI 3 and 4.
- The same for the 'optional' daughter card on the front for extra USB headers, etc. but you also need it for the base connectors.
- Overall it's fine to boot. A little annoying that every time I update the UEFI it seems to reset a lot of parameters (especially ones related to the pump/fan headers) wish I wish it didn't do.

I haven't had a reason to test ThunderBolt yet, but everything else works as expected so far. Would have liked to have seen a slightly cheaper version maybe without the exterior audio/USB module since I don't use that for much in my present configuration so it's largely a waste.

Overall its a good board, though a bit on the pricey side.

I have never written one of these before, that is how bad this board is. I knew this thing would be terrible just looking at the pictures, but it was the only one Amazon had available in the time frame I needed it. There are multiple levels of bad with this garbage. Im just now finding out how bad it is because it would appear the unit I received came with a dead bios battery out of the box.

First of all, it is simply too complex to be reliable. The stacked parts are not clever or anything like that, it is simply a terrible idea. Second M.2 connected by a ribbon? That is a terrible idea. Im sure they have some dumb reasoning for it, but the second slot should have been on the back. My guess is the ribbon cable was a lazy answer to getting a second slot on the board. The secondary daughter board for SATA is also A TERRIBLE idea, like, if it added an EXTRA set of 4, ok, but I dont see anyone else needing to do it that way.

Second, Ive had weird bios/config issues from the start. It appears that the ASUS website does not even have all the drivers, and Armory Crate does not install the missing ones, specifically the main chipset and serial io device drivers, I had to get them off the gigabyte site.

Lastly, this issues with the bios battery. You have to disassemble most of the board to get to it, then, once you get to it, you have to take additional pieces off to get to the connector.

Im sure some idiot engineer thought he was really clever when he designed this thing, but this thing is not clever, it is a terrible board design that no one without extensive experience should even consider buying, and even if that is you, the frustration is not worth it, buy the MSI Z690i Unify. If ASUS customer service reads this, no, im not interested in in talking to product support or an RMA, the board isnt broken, its is a fundamentally flawed product

This board is fantastic, incredible build quality, bios is very easy to navigate through and the sale price isn’t through the roof expensive compared to other itx boards in this class. HOWEVER there are two things that may make this a tough sell for others looking to make this purchase.

1. The stacked NVMe is a bit cumbersome and very tall. This makes it incredibly difficult, if not impossible to source large air cooling solutions that are compatible with this configuration. The Noctua u9s fits but just barely.

2. My board did not include the supporting pads to prevent the NVMe pcb from bending after the heatsink is installed. Thankfully I had an old Asus board that had a couple left over but it’s important to note that you may or may not receive pads with this board.

Other than that, this board is fantastic and HIGHLY recommended. Buy with confidence my friends.

this motherboard is packing some punch but its very crammed. my cpu cooler is barely fitting in it the motherboard but at least its there and cooling. but the thing is that there is to much stuff going on this board, the small little board with the sata cables is a nice addition but if i would design this board i would keep things simple and kept one or two sata connector and the front panel connector and that its. this is manly for asus to read this is that from a standard user point of view that when i go for itx size i am expecting to lose some features because i am going for size and not overpacked of features. but i saw a lot of bad reviews for the board and there were in principle compatibility problem and size the first thing to do is update the bios for the latest and update intel ME with all the over motherboard drivers and i didn't get any problem for now. i will come back if encounter some for of problem in about 3 months or sooner if something happens but i hope nothing happen and everything to work well. the cooler i used was the NH-U9S. it fits well but you will lack cooling power if you don't go with water cooling. so my suggestion will be to not go super high end as a cpu and keep it around the midrange and avoid the K version of cpu's or you will need to underclock it to make some what cool. if you have some question i will be happy to answer them.

Update: the motherboard is working perfectly fine but you really need to do the bios updates cuz it has few bugs at the 2305 bios like when I shut it down and start it back up it stuck on boot and vga but I just hold the power button and my pc shuts down and start back up and everything is fine. For now I didn't have any other problems. The only other thing is not very critical is that when I turn of turbo the core voltage drops down in a very scary zone of 1.06 volts but the pc works fine and never had a single crash except of one time because of the gpu drivers having a bug but after updating everything was fine.

update; with the light on the motherboard it just was the adapter cable from hdmi to dvi now i have display port and everything is good
