SEATTLE, Wash. — Major League Baseball announced today the American and National League rosters for the 2024 Major League Baseball All-Star Game, presented by MasterCard. Mariners starting pitcher Logan Gilbert was named to the American League All-Star roster.

The 94th MLB All-Star Game is set to take place at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas on Tuesday, July 16.

Gilbert, 27, has been named an All-Star for the first time in his Major League career. In 18 starts this season, the right-hander has posted a 2.91 ERA (38 ER, 117.2 IP) with 24 walks and 108 strikeouts.

Gilbert is 5–5 and among American League pitchers ranks 1st in WHIP (0.918), 2nd in opponent batting average (.199), 2nd in innings pitched (117.2), 2nd in fewest hits-per-9 innings (6.42), 7th in ERA (2.91), T-9th in bWAR (2.6), and 10th in strikeouts (108).

The right-hander has made 14 quality starts this season, tied for 2nd-most in the AL. Gilbert has gone 8.0+ scoreless innings in 3 starts this season (5/4 at HOU, 6/16 vs. TEX, 6/22 at MIA), most such outings in the Major Leagues. He has gone 5.0+ innings in 17 of his 18 starts this season.

Gilbert put together an excellent month of June, going 2–1 with a 1.51 ERA (6 ER, 35.2 IP) with 1 walk and 31 strikeouts, becoming just the 2nd Seattle pitcher with 30+ strikeouts and 1-or-less walk in a calendar month (other: Hisashi Iwakuma in July, 2014). That included a 21.0-inning scoreless streak by Gilbert from June 16–28, tossing back-to-back 8.0-inning scoreless outings on June 16 and 22.

Per Baseball Savant, the 6-foot-6 righty ranks in the 86th percentile in walk percentage and 82nd percentile in whiff percentage, one of just 4 qualified starting pitchers to rank in the 80th+ percentile in both categories this season, along with Chris Sale-ATL, Tarik Skubal-DET and Jack Flaherty-DET. Gilbert’s 17 “swords” are tied for 3rd-most in the Majors.

Gilbert is the third Mariners starting pitcher to be named an All-Star over the last 2 seasons (Luis Castillo and George Kirby, 2023). Gilbert is also the Mariners third homegrown player to be named an All-Star over the last 2 seasons (Kirby and outfielder Julio Rodríguez, 2023).

Gilbert was originally selected by the Mariners in the 1st round (14th overall) of the 2018 MLB First-Year Player Draft out of Stetson University (FL). He made his Major League debut on May 13, 2021 at T-Mobile Park.

In 106 career starts, Gilbert is 37–23 with a 3.60 ERA (245 ER, 613.1 IP) with 137 walks and 599 strikeouts, sporting a 1.096 WHIP and 4.37 strikeout-to-walk ratio. In Mariners history (min. 500 IP), Gilbert ranks 1st in WHIP (1.096), 1st in strikeout-to-walk ratio (4.37), 2nd in fewest walks-per-9 innings (2.0), 2nd in fewest hits-per-9 innings (7.9), 3rd in strikeouts-per-9 innings (8.8) and 5th in ERA (3.60).
