Due to the large number of letters we receive, we are unable to publish every one. Here are tips on getting your letter published:

  • The best letters are timely, straightforward and focused on a single issue.
  • The standard length for a letter is 200-250 words.
  • Letters may be edited for fact, clarity, length, tone and grammar. All positions are encouraged to contribute to the conversation, but please keep it civil, tasteful and about the issues.
  • Form letters, open letters, poetry and unsigned or pseudonym signed letters are not published.
  • Letter writers are limited to being published once every 60 days.
  • If you are responding to a specific article, letter or editorial, please include the date of its publication.
  • Please include your name, address and a daytime phone number to have your letter considered. Only your name and city of residence will be included with the letter if published. Submission on this site connotes permission to publish.
