It seems like smart watches just aren’t as cool as they used to be. At the very least, they’re definitely less popular. A certain brand of clotheshorse will tell you that that the devices just scream stylelessness, or mark you instantly as a part of the Silicon Valley set.
But as anyone who’s ever actually used an Apple Watch will (grudgingly, at least) admit, they’re extremely useful — and the SE is heavily discounted for Amazon’s Prime Big Deal Days event this year — it’s 20% off and going for just under $200 today.
In addition to the usual functions (messaging, phone calls, walkie-talkie, Apple Pay), the SE is also great for health and fitness obsessives, monitoring heart rate notifications (high and low; irregular rhythm), blood pressure, sleep, and menstrual cycle tracking. It’s also swim-proof up to 50 meters for the Michael Phelps of the world, and boasts a battery life of up to 18 hours. It even detects car crashes — not as useful as preventing them, but useful all the same.
Reviewers on Amazon say that it’s a great bargain intro to the smart watch world, with several calling it a sleek, better-looking foil to the Samsung set. Customers with pre-existing Apple products (likely everyone under Skynet at this point), say that integration with their phones, computers, and iCloud are seamless.
Overall, it’s a significant step up from a run-of-the-mill fitbit. Who cares if you look like a little Pointdexter-y?
