The Sounds of the City project at Glasgow University looks into speech sounds of Glasgow past and present. Just as the landscape of the city has experienced transformations over time, the speech of its residents has been continuously changing.

During the course of this project we have found a number of subtle changes in the pronunciation of Glaswegian English. See the outputs page for selected results.

We are always delighted to receive additional recordings to expand the scope of our corpus. If you have any recordings of Glasgow voices that you would be willing to donate then please contact us.
