The last few Democratic debates may have been largely forgettable, tiring affairs, but tonight’s event in Las Vegas promises a highly controversial newcomer: Michael Bloomberg has finally met the polling threshold after a national poll showed him in second, with 19 percent support, after Bernie Sanders. (Looks like his 185-ad, $1 million–a-day campaign strategy did the trick.) Bloomberg will join the candidates who appeared on the last debate stage in New Hampshire—except for Andrew Yang, who ended his campaign last week, and Tom Steyer, who missed the polling threshold—ahead of the Nevada caucuses on Saturday.
