Slate’s Mistakes for the Week of May 6

In a May 10 School, Molly Olmstead misidentified Arizona State University as the University of Arizona.

In a May 7 Medical Examiner, Emi Nietfeld misstated that a study published in 2009 found that white parents picked a female embryo 70 percent of the time. That statistic was for white parents having their first child.

In an April 26 Sports, Alex Kirshner misstated the number of positions on offense and defense in football. There are 22, not 24; two additional positions are on special teams.
