I’m Jeff Haynes, the multimedia director at Signal Cleveland. That means I’m the person in charge of the photos, video and multimedia work you see on our site. I’m always thinking about ways to include more visuals – and more fun – in our content.
When I ran into my old friend Dennis Knowles recently, I was thrilled to hear about his new work creating a comic strip featuring Cleveland characters. I’ve long respected Dennis and Gail Grizzell for the good work they do with The Fishing Foundation, which takes kids from the city outdoors to learn how to fish.
Their comic strip came right on time for my work at Signal Cleveland. I invited them to come to the newsroom and talk about how we could feature the comic and the work of The Fishing Foundation on the site regularly.
And now, without further ado, I’m happy to introduce “Hooked,” a new comic strip done in partnership with Gail and Dennis.
