he's dead 02:45
there’s a wet guy inside but its hands are dry time rolls around can it stop so I can cry got a lot to say came at the wrong sign confused the red for green at least you’re always on time looked at me straight in the eyes can’t picture can’t disguise what lives in your head they looked at my brain and said... i’m sorry he’s dead!! i fell off the tree of the stages of grief let the dirt figure it out and the soil cover me try to catch my breath runs away from me now what's the point of saying more little person I can ignore sweat rolls around every pore and on the ground soak away the dread they looked at my brain and said... i’m sorry he’s dead!! (lyrics by martha schnee & hava horowitz)

i took this tumble with god, laid down now face to face. just a rumble with god. when i look you in the eye, it’s all a cloud, are you on the ground? do you walk around? there’s a part of me that, don’t wanna believe, no. there’s this part of me that don’t wanna it don’t wanna believe. time’s a sponge that’s soaked in your name. when you squeeze it, it starts to rain. yes we all get wet. hope you like getting wet. (lyrics by hava horowitz)

sponge time 02:49
time is a sponge it soaks everything up no matter what you do a little or a lot when you think about time it’s all in your mind it doesn’t really matter when you’re living in sponge time it’s monday morning somerville you’re doing all this shit market basket laundromat post office run then it’s sunday morning got nothing on your plate swim in your bed maybe lay in a lake but no matter what you do it goes up in the sponge the time just passes by it gets soaked up time is a sponge it soaks everything up no matter what you do a little or a lot when you think about time it’s all in your mind and it doesn’t really matter ‘cuz you’re living in sponge time what’s the difference between time and sponge time you’re in eastern standard time and i’m in sponge time we are not the same we are not the same! you’re stuck in time and i’m stuck in sponge time! time is a sponge it soaks everything up no matter what you do a little or a lot when you think about time it’s all in your mind and it doesn’t actually matter when you’re living in sponge time (lyrics by lena warnke)

about

sidebody kept promising each other they would record another album. but it was so hard to find a time when everyone was free. cara was finishing her book and hava’s business was taking off. lena had so many students and martha was printmaking at all hours.

a hole in sponge time brought them to the studio, where they found themselves reasserting connection through sound. underneath: synth loops, jumped octaves, pacing bass and tom heartbeats. on top: improvised harmonies, pet theories, call-and-response, and jokes. everyone was writing and singing lead; no one escaped their turn in the iso booth. they played everything a little faster than they meant to, but it sounded right.

then they just needed to finish mixing it. but it was so hard to find a time when everyone was free…
