The study of our Solar System’s
Protective Bubble
Welcome to the
The SHIELD DRIVE Science Center is a novel effort to define, quantify, and implement all relevant physical processes to develop a “digital twin” of the heliosphere. The heliosphere is an immense shield protecting the solar system from the harsh galactic radiation, which affects both life on Earth and human space exploration.
This multi-institutional effort is headquartered at Boston University and has co-investigators and collaborators across a dozen other institutions.
