Community / More than £3,600 raised for Mind Your Head in memory of Iain Goodlad
MORE than £3,600 is to be donated to local mental health charity Mind Your Head in memory of the late Iain Goodlad after a fundraising night in Lerwick.
The event at the Lerwick Legion on Saturday included a race night, raffle and a DJ performance.
The first part of the evening saw 25 teams, and over 150 people, come from all over Shetland to take part in a quiz organised by Dominic Mann.
Throughout the quiz, horse races were mixed in with folk trying their luck at seeing whether their horse would come in for a win.
Organisers said they were “blown away” by the many donations from local businesses and other folk for the event’s raffle.
They also praised Goodlad’s many sports teams and colleagues for turning out, including LK Galaxy, Ness Football Club, Shetland Rugby Club, Spurs Football Club and Sumburgh Airport Fire and Rescue.
Meanwhile DJ Wayne, who donated his time and fee, fired up the decks for a party which ran through to 1am.
Earlier in the day the ‘Still Game Cup’ competition took place at the 60/40 at the Clickimin which contributed £200 to Mind Your Head.
In total around £3,637 was raised for Mind Your Head.
Organisers also wished to thank the Lerwick Royal British Legion, the Plonkys for their PA system, all those who lent a hand and the community for donating to the fundraiser.
