What you will do:

  • Write fast, accurate and coherent breaking news stories in a fast-paced environment under tight deadlines.
  • Actively pitch news ideas that are compelling, shareable and relevant to our readers and execute them in a timely manner. This might involve reaching out to newsmakers, research and onsite reporting.
  • Consistently produce a stream of daily stories that meet output goals.
  • Identify compelling and trending content and work closely with the sub-editor to refine and execute stories effectively.
  • Ensure all content is fact-checked and presented in a clear, concise manner that adheres to MS News’ house style.
  • Enhance content visibility through SEO best practices.
  • Collaborate with sub-editors and fellow reporters to develop and share stories across multiple platforms, adapting content to suit diverse formats where necessary.
  • Senior journalists would be given the opportunity to mentor younger reporters and interns.


The successful candidate should have:

  • At least 2-3 years of experience in reporting experience, ideally in a digital news setting.
  • A Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, New Media, Political Science, or a related field.
  • Strong command of English with exceptional writing skills. A proven ability to craft stories that capture the audience's attention is a bonus.
  • A sharp eye for news, with the instinct to discern the significance and impact of events.
  • Work well under pressure to meet deadlines.
  • Willingness to work in a fast-paced environment, including shifts, weekends, and public holidays.
  • Self-motivated and resourceful, able to thrive with minimal supervision while still working effectively within a team.
  • Proficient in SEO practices and social media platforms, with an understanding of how to engage a digital audience effectively.
