Last week, we welcomed more than 150 students, educators, and industry partners for our annual Tencent Singapore Open Day — Behind the Screens: Exploring Career Pathways in the Gaming Industry. The event kickstarted with opening remarks from IMDA, was followed by an open panel discussion with speakers from DigiPen Institute of Technology Singapore, TrueWorld Studios Pte Ltd, and Tencent Games, and rounded up with an insightful presentation by Singapore Games Association (SGGA). Students also had the opportunity to network and speak with our gaming industry leaders after the session to learn more about Singapore’s vibrant gaming landscape, and the various career pathways available in the industry. Tencent’s 2024 Q1 results are in, and we are pleased to announce strong profitability, driven in part by year-on-year growth in International Games gross receipts and Online Advertising revenues. Business Services also achieved double-digit year-on-year revenue growth rate, driven by higher cloud services revenues and increased eCommerce technology fees within Video Accounts. Our business is off to a strong start in 2024. Our Q1 2024 financial results announced today showed gross profit up 23% and operating profit up 30% year-on-year, driven by high quality revenue streams. Total revenue was up 6% and profit attributable to equity holders of the company was up 54%. AI-powered advertising infrastructure is driving increased engagement across our Video Accounts, Mini Programs, Official Accounts, and Weixin Search, while a reorganization of our games divisions has paved the way for future revenue growth.
