The SMU International Moots community was treated to an end-of-AY celebration on 26 July. 150 attended the event - mooters, alumni coaches, staff, and benefactors such as Dato Kho and Abraham Vergis SC. The event also saw the presentation of the Joseph Grimberg SC prizes, awarded to the top students in the International Moots I and II electives. Notable achievements for SMU this season include winning the world championships in the ICC, Refugee Migration, and Fletcher competitions, and reaching the world championship finals in the Price, Stetson, and Mandela competitions. SMU will be competing in four other competitions before the moot season concludes. SMU students are able to participate in around 30 international moot competitions every year thanks to generous funding for the Ian R Taylor Moot Programme, as well as support from WongPartnership LLP, Providence Law Asia LLC, the International Moots Alumni Fund, and mentorship from a community of more than 500 moot alumni coaches and judges. #SMUmoots #SMULAW #SMUSOL #ShapingtheFutureofLaw

🌟OARsome Leaders🌟 It’s Commencement season at the Singapore Management University and we are inundated with graduations 👩🏻🎓👨🏻🎓, lunches, dinners and alumni gatherings. At SMU Office of Alumni Relations, if you involve us, we promise to #ShowUp. So members of our team, spread ourselves out to lend our support at different events. I do believe that many among us are pumped with #potential, waiting to be unleashed and uncovered 🦸🏻🦸🏻♀️. As leaders of leaders, it is our responsibility to #recognise, #nurture, and #empower our next-in-line leaders. 🔍 𝐕𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲: Give emerging leaders the spotlight. Assign them challenging projects, involve them in strategic discussions, and #celebrate their achievements publicly. When people see their contributions valued, their #confidence soars. 🎓 𝐃𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐨𝐩𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐎𝐩𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐬: Invest in their #growth through training programmes and continuous learning opportunities. Encourage them to step out of their comfort zones and explore new skills. 🌱 𝐄𝐦𝐩𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐫𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭: Trust emerging leaders with decision-making authority. Allow them to take the #lead on initiatives and make impactful choices. This empowerment is crucial for their development and demonstrates that you believe in their #capabilities. 🗣️ 𝐅𝐞𝐞𝐝𝐛𝐚𝐜𝐤: Honest and supportive feedback will help new leaders understand their #strengths and areas for improvement, fostering growth and self-awareness. But they must know that “𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙝𝙖𝙫𝙚 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙞𝙧 𝙗𝙖𝙘𝙠”! By fostering an environment that supports visibility, development, empowerment, and feedback, I do believe we will all benefit from a healthy work #culture and thriving ecosystem where leaders can #flourish. At OAR, everyone has the confidence to #StepUp and lead💪🏻.
