As alumni, Asst Prof Chen and A/Prof Soon are now advocates for the #biodesign methodology within their institutions, demonstrating its implementation across various innovations. Along with A/Prof Desmond Y.R. Chong, SIT's first SB faculty fellow alumni, they have introduced a new elective module for SIT students. This module will provide allied health and ICT students with crucial biodesign skills and knowledge, fostering the next generation of Health and #MedTech innovators and building a robust talent pipeline for Singapore's thriving Health and MedTech industry. SB Leadership Transition Dr. Enci Mary Kan, who has served as the Singapore Biodesign Programme Director for the past four years, is moving on to lead the new national initiative - MedTech Catapult. During her tenure, SB continued to grow in influence, expanding and strengthening our global partnerships. Under her leadership, SB became the first Asian Global Affiliate of the Stanford Byers Center for Biodesign. As of April 1, 2024, Dr. Phin Peng Lee has assumed the role of Acting Programme Director. Dr. Lee, formerly the Deputy Programme Director, has played a crucial role in SB's growth over the years. He has led the expansion of SB’s programmes and advanced strategic initiatives for RIE2025. We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude for Mary's unwavering dedication, hard work, and countless contributions to SB. We wish Mary all the best in her future endeavours. I’m grateful to SingHealth and National Cancer Centre Singapore for the recognition. To me, this Award is a formal acknowledgment of the “clinician-innovator” role. Walking this less beaten and uncommon career path, it means a lot to me to see the health innovation field gaining increasing recognition and importance in Singapore. We had a fantastic time at the Singapore Biodesign Team retreat last week, and we were delighted to have the A*STAR MDD Team join in on the fun. The event featured a mix of individual and team challenges that promoted effective communication and camaraderie outside the typical office setting.
