“I don’t want a regular office job, I want to know what it takes to run a successful F&B business… So, I chose to intern at a brand like McDonald’s Singapore.” – Sneha, ITE Undergraduate Just like Sneha, over 25 interns from the Institute of Technical Education (ITE) feel the same way and have started their internship journey at McDonald’s Singapore. Designed to provide hands-on learning, our interns can be assured of opportunities to grow and value-add alongside our seasoned teams. Through our partnership with ITE, we give students a taste of what it takes to be run a F&B business – marketing your menu, solving manpower issues, ensuring food safety and quality, amongst other skills. We’re eager to impart our experience and see these future leaders flourish!      #McDsg #internship

We’re so stoked to be conferred a Champion of Good by the National Volunteer and Philanthropy Centre (NVPC) last night on July 18! You see, our brand purpose is much more than just serving our customers their favourite food. Whatever we do, we strive to scale for good. For our diverse workforce of 10,000 employees, respecting inclusivity, flexibility, and personal growth. For a greener planet, using less and using better and sourcing responsibly, knowing that every step-change can make huge impact. For our beloved community, advocating for family mental wellness while our employee-volunteers give low-income families and the vulnerable a reason to smile. On this journey to do good, we’re totally grateful to our partners, supporters and fans who cheer us on. We’re immensely proud to be closely knitted into the local fabric, serving our customers and uplifting communities across Singapore. Every day, we hope to make someone’s life (and our planet) a little brighter, happier. Because we are here to champion good. Every child deserves a happy birthday filled with happy memories. Once again, we're thrilled to partner Ministry of Social and Family Development, Singapore (MSF) and Families for Life Council to throw another joy-filled McDonald’s party – this time, for ‘June babies’ from ComLink+ families. The happy occasion was capped by a special appearance by Mr Ong Ye Kung, Minister for Health and Adviser to Sembawang Central Grassroots Organisations, who spent some time celebrating with the families. Just our gift of birthday parties to the #commUNITY 😊 #mcdsg

As part of our partnership with Respect SG and in support of the Respect Work Attachment Program (RWAP), we onboarded over 20 students from Yuan Ching Secondary School and Fairfield Methodist School to experience Singapore’s F&B through the lens of a McDonald’s employee! Kayle from Fairfield Methodist School shares her experience at McDonald’s Alexandra Retail Centre as one of ‘many takeaways and memories’ that she will cherish for years to come. She also expressed her gratitude to the crew members and her Restaurant General Manager for being supportive in times of need, especially during the restaurant’s peak hours. And that’s all part of supporting the future of our business – to provide young talent with a greater understanding of the Food Service Culture in Singapore and what it means to be a part of our McFamily. We’re into 2H 2024, looking forward to welcoming more students via RWAP and to continue inspiring passion! #McDonaldsSingapore #RespectSG #RWAP

What makes an inspirational leader and what does it take to become one? 💡 Over the course of three months, our budding leaders at McDonald’s Singapore fully immersed themselves in the Inspire People Leadership Workshop – a series of training sessions designed to empower our employees to nurture the leader in them. Led by our Learning and Development team and the Hamburger University Malaysia, this workshop saw 23 cross functional team members come together for virtual meet ups and in-person meetings! As one big team of learners, we got to explore the mindsets of a leader, creating trusting relationships, and deep dived into how we can lead inclusive teams. The energy from the workshop was inspiring to say the least as these leaders embraced new skills learnt to empower their teams and achieve team goals. Here at McDonald’s Singapore, it is important to us that our employees are equipped with the tools and knowledge they need, to go forth in their growth journeys. Inspiring People Leadership is one of the ways we do this, and we are excited for the growth of these individuals and their teams. To achieving greatness as one! #McDonaldsSingapore #LearningandDevelopment

Welcome to McDonald’s Singapore!  Representatives including students from Singapore Polytechnic (SP) were given a tour of our head office and a special sharing of what’s trending in today’s F&B landscape. Our guests had their interest piqued when finding out about the Archways to Opportunity programme in McDonald’s - where every employee has a structured learning and development pathway for continued growth. As future leaders, the young talents from SP were also given an inside look on what it takes to grow a brand and business like McDonald’s.   We had an engaging session with these young minds. Here’s to more sessions with our tertiary partners!

Developing and nurturing young talent is important to a kinder, more empathetic Food Service Culture in Singapore. Officiated by Senior Minister of State Low Yen Ling, we signed a Memorandum of Understanding on 11 May 2024 in support of Respect SG and the Respect Work Attachment Program (RWAP). Our Managing Director, Benjamin Boh and Head of People, Lynn Hong, were honored to be present with like-minded industry friends and partners, as we show our support for Respect SG’s efforts. Through RWAP, we’ve onboarded students on a three-week immersive programme at our McDonald’s restaurants – allowing them to get hands-on work exposure, build connections and gain valuable mentorship from our restaurant managers and crew. We’re looking forward to creating more opportunities to inspire passion in future leaders of our Food Services industry and engage in the next generation of talents.

The mark of a manager’s success is the strength of the team he or she builds.  The first Leading Great Restaurants (LGR) Workshop of the year saw 27 McDonald’s Singapore managers graduate with better strategies and insights on how to build great teams.   Spanning across four days, the LGR workshop allowed our participants to deep dive into what it means to step out of one’s comfort zone to build their teams. Beyond looking inward and exploring their developmental needs, our managers looked at how to better champion self-awareness amongst their team and lead winning strategies for their restaurants.    Congratulations to all 27 graduates! Let’s continue to strive for excellence and becoming better versions of ourselves together.
