K&A is pleased to announce the successful completion of the 1st Stage of the “Design & Tender Documents for the Interconnection of Al Dakhiliyah and Al Sharqiyah Water Transmission Systems.” This milestone was achieved during a workshop held in Muscat, Oman, in collaboration with our strategic client, Oman Water & Wastewater Services Company (Nama Water Services NWS). The project aims to establish a permanent, sustainable water interconnection supply to address potential water demand challenges at the two governorates' level.   During the one-day workshop, K&A Beirut design experts, accompanied by our Oman Water & Environment management, discussed the findings from the Stage 1 deliverables in five main sessions. The discussions covered the project’s timeline, objectives, existing conditions, proposed works, and corresponding evaluations and recommendations. As part of the “Potable Water Production and Transmission Master Plan” project in the Kingdom of Bahrain, K&A has successfully conducted the “Closeout Workshop of Phase 1” with the Electricity and Water Authority (EWA). The one-day workshop was divided into four main sections, during which our experts discussed and deliberated all the findings of phase 1 reports, including Data Collection, Site Visits, and Population and Water Demand Forecast Studies. We also addressed the queries and comments raised by over 35 EWA participating representatives. Last week, K&A took part in a workshop organized by the Lebanese Ministry of Environment in collaboration with the Hanns Seidel Foundation to tackle the challenges and strategies related to water management in Lebanon. Our water treatment associate principal, Rami Hanna, discussed the environmental, health, and economic impacts of the wastewater treatment system in Lebanon. He provided a comprehensive overview of the sewage system's components, treatment processes, stages, and factors affecting the costs of establishing and operating treatment plants. He thoroughly examined Lebanon's water use per capita, highlighting the cost-effectiveness of secondary treatments in larger plants compared to smaller ones. The workshop also addressed key points such as equitable water distribution and ecosystem safety. Aligned with Basra Governorate's 2024 training and development plan, we are thrilled to announce the successful completion of a comprehensive project management training course conducted by our Business Operations Director, TONI FARAH, for Basra Governorate as part of Khatib & Alami's initiative to transfer and share knowledge. From June 10 to 12, around 100 participants, including department heads and staff, engaged in essential project management skills and expertise.   This initiative aimed to enhance participants’ expertise in key departments, such as government contracts, planning, project management, accounting, and auditing. Over three days, participants delved into critical areas like time, scope, cost, quality, resource, risk, communication, contract, procurement, integration, and stakeholder management. The training covered vital aspects of construction project management, including planning, execution, monitoring & control, challenge mitigation, negotiation, financial management, scheduling, and developing actionable plans within agreed timelines.   By the end of the training, participants had gained the skills and tools needed to effectively manage projects from start to finish, ensuring efficiency, quality, and client satisfaction. The initiative was a success, with participants reporting increased confidence and capabilities in handling complex projects.
