Coming together in pursuit of peace couldn't be more important than today. It is a privilege to be together as a group of women and men who are committed to doing good as part of their life's work and as their natural way of being and making a difference for others and for themselves. Global Citizen Forum (GCF), Rajarishi BK Modi's platform for engaging private sector, civil society, public sector leaders and anyone who shares the vision that we are part of ONE Global Family, understands our interconnectedness in creating one world - one that works for all. The recent GCF meeting in Delhi was special. Our guest of honour, Dr Asle Toje, Deputy Director of the Norwegian Nobel Committee based in Oslo, Norway, is a man of peace. With a background in international relations, he has travelled the world teaching and listening. He believes that the opportunity to contribute to peace brings out the nobler part of humanity. Before hearing from all the guests, we heard from Shazia Ilmi, Soundarajan Narendran and Kristin Engvig respectively sharing their experience in creating better democracy, international connections and global harmony. The meeting was attended by big-hearted and bright minds from around the world who share Rajarshi Modi's vision for the GCF that we are part of one global family. Guests from Iran, Taiwan, Hungary, Germany, Norway, UK, Canada and various states of India enthusiastically shared their life projects, whether it was finding a way out for orphans, providing healthy food for all, caring for nature itself, educating about natural childbirth, safe cities, living long and healthy lives, ensuring true democracy for all, gender equality and the right of children to education and safe upbringing irrespective of nationality, gender or religious affiliation. Shivani Srivastva Wadhwa Kanta Singh Juliane Drews Gagan Mahotra and many others We are grateful to Dr Rajarishi Modi for inviting us, to our guest of honour Dr Asle Toje for travelling all the way from Oslo, and to everyone who took time out of their busy lives to come together. We all left feeling a bit more enlightened and certainly hopeful that the world is already a better place. Written by Kristin Engvig, president GCF #GlobalCitizenForum #RajarshiModi

peace Research as a science Dr Johan Galtung passes on and leaves incredible Legacy

View profile for Otto Scharmer, graphic

Senior Lecturer, MIT, and Founding Chair, Presencing Institute

Honoring the legacy of Professor Johan Galtung, the father of peace research as a science, who has left us at 93. His groundbreaking work laid the foundations of peace studies (as opposed to war and security), transforming academic research and real-world conflict resolution. Galtung's concepts of structural violence and positive peace continue to inspire and challenge us. Meeting him at Free University Berlin in 1983 changed my life. See some of that story here.... #Peace #StructuralViolence #JohanGaltung #PeaceResearch #Legacy #PositivePeace #Ghandi #nonviolence #PeaceByPeacefulMeans
