Delighted to open the Singapore Sustainability Academy (SSA) Annex by City Developments Limited on Thursday.     The new Annex is an extension to the zero-energy facility located at the roof terrace of City Square Mall, which serves as a collaborative community space for local and global 3P partners to champion the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The SSA also houses the UN Global Compact Network Singapore (GCNS) as its anchor NGO partner; and works closely with international organisations like World Green Building Council and WBCSD – World Business Council for Sustainable Development.   #Climatechange is one of the most pressing challenges facing the world today. We must all play our part and also build strong partnerships to help each other embrace sustainability. This will position Singapore to develop and scale new climate solutions to serve the common good, and to seize new opportunities in a carbon-constrained world.   Congratulations to CDL once again, and many thanks to all presenters at the partner showcase, including Sustainable Energy Association of Singapore (SEAS) (SEAS), TA.LE Architects, ChopValue Singapore, Aerospring Hydroponics, City Sprouts, Ecoworks, Fogo Fungi and others for contributing to a sustainable future. This past week, we had the honour of being a part of World Cities Summit 2024! 🌏 Fogo Fungi was among the select three start-ups featured at the Singapore Management University booth, along with AlterPacks and Osiris. 🍄We showcased our fascinating gourmet mushrooms and shared our story with a curious audience, including esteemed guests such as President of SMU, Prof Lily Kong, Minister in the Prime Minister’s Office and Second Minister for Finance and National Development, Ms. Indranee Rajah, and Minister for National Development and Minister-in-charge of Social Services Intergration, Mr. Desmond Lee 🏢 🌱 Our co-founder and CEO, Ryan Ong, was also selected to represent SMU as a speaker during the summit, detailing the marvels of mushrooms and how they can play a critical role in building liveable and sustainable cities. 👏Thank you to the entire SMU team for the wonderful opportunity. By 2050, our planet will be home to nearly 10 billion people and the feeding challenge will be more prevalent than ever. As a food and agri-focused bank, our mission is to grow a better world by promoting sustainable and innovative approaches to food production. Recently, Rabobank hosted our flagship Food & Agribusiness Advisory Board conference in Singapore, where clients and partners got to partake in a lunch featuring an array of sustainable, plant-based, and locally produced food items. For an urban, land-locked city state like Singapore, it is especially meaningful to see the progress it has made in the realm of food innovation. We’re proud to have brought this to life by showcasing a variety of local sustainable food brands over lunch. The menu included locally produced tempeh by Angie's Tempeh, gourmet mushrooms by Fogo Fungi, plant-based shrimp by Growthwell Foods and locally farmed fish and prawns from Blue Ocean Aquaculture Technology and Blue Aqua International. Guests also got to partake in locally grown strawberries by Singrow Pte Ltd, an agri-genomics firm that launched the world’s first climate-resilient strawberries, which has made it possible to produce a fruit normally grown in temperate climates in tropical Singapore. Other popular items were plant-based cheese from HerbYvore , as well as vegan satay and chicken from Green Rebel Foods, indoor grown vegetables from Urban Green Dot, and Temasek rice - a hardy and climate-resistant grain variety developed by researchers at the Temasek Life Sciences Laboratory - another example of the huge progress in producing more climate- and disease-resilient crops. Lunch was topped off with dessert made with BAMnut milk from WhatIF Foods and an orange mousse-inspired cake, using upcycled orange peel by WellSpent Gourmet2Go. Our heartfelt thanks to the culinary team of Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group for making this lunch truly memorable, and to all the Singapore food and agri start-ups who collaborated with us. We were glad to attend Rabobank Asia’s Food & Agribusiness #Advisory #Board Meeting (FAAB) 2024 last week. The purpose of FAAB is to bring representatives from leading companies across the global food & agriculture value chain together for a transformational day of thought #leadership and sharing. It was great to have local sustainable food brands being showcased at the event and all were able to enjoy canapes made with #plantbased #cheese from our downstream brand, HerbYvore during the morning break time. It was heartening to hear feedback that the cheeses tasted great and the canapes were gone in a jiffy. 📙Our first FHA-Food & Beverage event is in the books, and it was certainly one to remember! 💪 Here are some of our exciting highlights: 🍄The world of Gourmet mushrooms is especially intriguing and captivating, yet often unknown to most. We were able to showcase our wide selection of fresh, vibrant gourmet mushrooms which served as a bridge to establish meaningful connections with familiar faces as well as visitors around the world! A big shoutout to Kranji Countryside Association for the precious opportunity and empowering local farmers like us! 🍜The Future of Food booth was a sight to behold, serving up appetizing previews of what purposeful food innovations could look like. We collaborated closely with Enterprise Singapore and SATS Ltd. for the showcase, offering our mushrooms to support their quest of creating diverse and sustainably delicious menus. Our Co-founder and CEO, Ryan Ong, also had the pleasure of meeting and sharing more about Fogo Fungi with the esteemed audience. FHA was truly an exhilarating experience for us. It was encouraging to see an overwhelming interest in gourmet mushrooms, providing us the perfect opportunity to reel them into that fascinating world.
