Together with EuroCham’s knowledge partner, Accenture, the ‘Financing for Social Impact’ panel discussion will focus on leveraging finance to create significant social impact and initiatives that drive positive change. On 30 July, EuroCham, in collaboration with ING APAC, organised an interactive event: the “Sustainability Business Dilemma Game”. We extend our thanks to ING APAC for hosting and express our special gratitude to Ms Evelien Hooijman (ING APAC), Co-Chair of the Sustainability Committee, and Ms Gemke Wijgergangs (ING APAC), for their initiative and seamless moderation of the event. In this engaging and dynamic event, the participants were tasked with navigating a challenging scenario: the municipal government of Dhaka, Bangladesh, sold its waste disposal site to Top Waste Landfill Company (TWL) to upgrade the plant to handle high-hazardous waste. The mission? To decide whether to finance this €150 million operation. With the objective of reaching a consensus among five key stakeholders, we delved into thought-provoking discussions, balancing environmental, social, and reputation risks. The collaborative spirit, creative problem-solving, and strategic thinking displayed by all participants were truly inspiring. A big thank you to everyone who participated and made this event a success. Today, the EU and Singapore reached a significant milestone by concluding negotiations for a groundbreaking Digital Trade Agreement (DTA). This marks the EU's first deal of its kind, aiming to set global standards for digital trade and data flows. Key Highlights: - Enhanced Trade: The DTA complements the 2019 EU-Singapore Free Trade Agreement, further connecting our economies. - Data Flow: Ensures seamless cross-border data flows without unjustified barriers. - Consumer Trust: Establishes strong rules to build trust and legal certainty for businesses. - Economic Opportunities: Unlocks new growth prospects while maintaining a safe online environment.
