A sometimes overlooked aspect of the importance of natural gas to Asia is its use to create fertiliser that sustains agriculture. In some of the region's most populated nations - including China, India and, in the case of this article, Indonesia - natural gas provides critical contributions to food security. Given Asia relies on imports from other parts of the world to meet its gas needs, it's a reminder of the importance of producing countries around the world continuing to bring on future LNG projects to meet our region's demand. ------------------------------------------------------ 💡 We are the voice of the gas industry in Asia 📖 Follow us for insights, data and policy on the pathway to a reliable, low-carbon energy future #naturalgas #lng #energysecurity #foodsecurity

Excellent news for Malaysia's energy landscape and, more broadly, that of Asia. The Jerun field, which was discovered in 2015, is expected to have peak production capacity of 550 million cubic feet of gas per day, alongside condensate production of 15,000 barrels per day. Malaysia has identified natural gas as a fuel that is essential to its energy transition, supporting a reduction of its current dependence on high-emitting coal-fired power. ------------------------------------------------------ 💡 We are the voice of the gas industry in Asia 📖 Follow us for insights, data and policy on the pathway to a reliable, low-carbon energy future #naturalgas #energysecurity #energytransition #decarbonisation #decarbonization

Promising news for energy security in Asia. Rystad Energy projects a series of FIDs in Southeast Asia over the next five years - including recent discoveries off Indonesia and Malaysia - could help unlock $100 billion of gas production. Combined with LNG imports, this regional production would help support Asia's energy needs into the 2030s and beyond. ------------------------------------------------------ 💡 We are the voice of the gas industry in Asia 📖 Follow us for insights, data and policy on the pathway to a reliable, low-carbon energy future #energysecurity #naturalgas #lng #energytransition

ANGEA was delighted to partners with the Petroleum Institute Of Thailand this week on another excellent public lecture. Katsumi Kojiri from our member company Mitsubishi Heavy Industries gave a very informative presentation on a subject that is central to the energy landscape in many countries in Asia: "Multi pathways to achieve carbon neutrality - preparation for increasing uncertainty." Kojiri-san provided insights on a wide range of key topics, including energy demand, strategy, analytics and the rapid growth of AI. Many thanks to all those who attended and also Dr Kurujit Nakornthap and his team at PTIT for organising the event. ------------------------------------------------------ 💡 We are the voice of the gas industry in Asia 📖 Follow us for insights, data and policy on the pathway to a reliable, low-carbon energy future #energytransition #carbonneutrality #thailand #energy #energsecurity

"Australia’s own energy security issues have also become so pressing that there is a potential risk addressing them could be at the expense of future LNG export volumes. That’s a real worry for Asia." ANGEA CEO Paul Everingham examines the gas and LNG landscape in Australia in the June 2024 instalment of his Quarterly Q&A. LNG has a long-time and vital role supporting energy security and industrial processes in South Korea - and the country's biggest businesses continue to invest significantly in import facilities that will be relevant long into the future. POSCO International Corp recently completed the $750 million Gwangyang LNG Terminal after 20 years of staged construction, and will now press on with Gwangyang-2 (set to be operational in 2026) and potentially another terminal in Dangjin that could come online in 2027. Gwangyang Terminal is South Korea's first privately-owned LNG terminal. ------------------------------------------------------ 💡 We are the voice of the gas industry in Asia 📖 Follow us for insights, data and policy on the pathway to a reliable, low-carbon energy future #lng #naturalgas #energytransition #energysecurity https://bit.ly/3zBDx6U
