🌟 Rebuilding Lives through Donations: ALBA IWS Gives Back to the Community 🌟 Through rain and shine, we have completed four donation activities in the months of May and June in Hong Kong. At ALBA IWS, we go beyond collecting and recycling Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE). We also refurbish WEEE items, giving them a new lease on life as “reborn” electrical and electronic products, and donate them to those in need. Sometimes we receive generous donations of obsolete or slightly defective appliances from our business partners. In collaboration with the Christian Family Service Centre 基督教家庭服務中心(NGO), we organized donation activities on four Saturdays in the past two months. We focused on the residents of transitional housing in the Tseung Kwan O area in Hong Kong, families who have waited patiently for government housing for an extended period. This initiative was on a larger scale, benefiting 300 households. Our heartfelt gratitude goes to the staff volunteers and the support from our management team. We are also honored that our esteemed partners such as 惠而浦 Whirlpool and Contex, along with the Fire Service Department volunteer team, joined us to make a positive impact in the community. As we reflect on the smiles and heartwarming experiences, we are reminded of the transformative power of giving, and how these humble refurbished appliances become priceless pieces. We are immensely grateful to the Christian Family Service Centre for their partnership, as well as to the volunteers and partners who dedicated their time and efforts to make a difference. Together, we are reshaping lives, one piece of refurbished WEEE at a time. Let us work hand in hand to foster a society where everyone has access to the essential resources they need to thrive. #ALBAIWS #DonationActivities #CommunityOutreach #RebuildingLives #Sustainability #MakingADifference

ALBA Group Asia has reached a significant milestone in its plastics recycling efforts in Asia. On July 16, 2024, ALBA RORR New Material received a no-objection letter (NOL) from the U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA) approving the use of its mechanically recycled post-consumer PET plastics in food-grade packaging. This FDA approval marks a major advancement for ALBA Group Asia’s first plastic recycling facility in Mainland China. Located in Yingtan, Jiangxi province, ALBA RORR has a production capacity of 50,000 tons per year of AAA grade rPET flakes and 20,000 tons per year of food-grade rPET pellets. These high-quality recycled PET materials can be used in various applications, including cosmetic and personal care products, textile and apparel, industrial fiber in the automotive sector, and food-contact packaging. The FDA’s NOL is applicable in the United States and other regions under FDA governance. “We are pleased to receive the NOL from the US FDA for our PET recycling facility in Jiangxi, China. This approval enables our customers to use our high-quality recycled PET products for food-contact applications. As the first FDA clearance for ALBA Group Asia in the region, it underscores our vision of a world without waste and is a testament that our operations meet the highest international standards,” commented JIAQING LU (Estelle), COO for Plastics Recycling at ALBA Group Asia. ALBA Group Asia’s plastics recycling portfolio includes several operating facilities in Asia, including in Hong Kong SAR. Furthermore, ALBA Group Asia is constructing the first and largest food-grade PET recycling facility in Central Java, Indonesia, with an annual capacity of 36,000 tons, set to commence operations in Q1 2025. #PlasticRecycling #rPET #FoodGradePackaging #Sustainability #China #JiangxiProvince #Yingtan #RecycledPET #CircularEconomy

🌳🌱 The Magic of a Mini Forest at WEEE.PARK! 🌱🌳 We are delighted to share that at the end of June, we have successfully planted a mini forest in WEEE.PARK in Hong Kong! Over the course of two days, our dedicated team planted over 700 trees, encompassing a range of 45 species. The temperature was extremely hot during the 2 days, rising up to 34°C at times. There were showers in the morning and the rain stopped before we began planting. Although the trees are still small now, they will grow up to 6 to 20 meters in height when fully grown. These trees will not only enhance the beauty of WEEE.PARK but also play a crucial role in cooling the area, lowering the temperature by up to 5°C, creating a refreshing oasis for everyone to enjoy. One of the most compelling benefits of this mini forest is the improvement in air quality it will bring to WEEE.PARK. The trees will release oxygen and absorb harmful pollutants, resulting in cleaner and fresher air for our colleagues and park visitors. This environmentally friendly initiative aligns perfectly with our commitment to sustainability and creating a healthier community. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to our sponsor #FedEx, as well as volunteers from Food Panda HK, Footprints Foundation, Endeavour Environmental Education Foundation and Concern for Grassroots Livelihood Alliance. Your support and participation were vital in making this initiative a reality. We would also like to express our sincere appreciation to EPD and all our colleagues who dedicated their time and effort to make this project a success. Together, we are creating positive change and leaving a lasting legacy. Lastly, we want to acknowledge the invaluable guidance from Nature Makers Lab. Their expertise was instrumental in teaching us the Miyawaki style of tree planting. Thanks to their knowledge, we have created a thriving mini forest that will bring numerous benefits to WEEE.PARK. We cordially invite you to visit WEEE.PARK in Hong Kong and witness the growth and transformation of our mini forest. Let us come together to celebrate this achievement and embrace the magic of a healthier future! #WEEEPARK #MiniForestustainability #GreenInitiatives #EnvironmentalConservation #GlobalWarming #ALBAIWS #ALBAGroupASIA

What a great way to conclude the first half of the year with this remarkable "Award Presentation Ceremony for E-waste Management & Partnership" event in Hong Kong! 🏆✨ The event last Tuesday kicked off with a corporate video highlighting our achievements, followed by a warm welcome from Mr. Donald Lim, General Manager of ALBA IWS. Mr. Kenneth Cheng, Acting Deputy Director of the Environmental Protection Department, delivered an inspiring speech, setting the tone. We were privileged to recognize and award 100 outstanding organizations from various sectors, including retail, electronic brands, corporations, property management, and Green@Community. Their remarkable contributions to e-waste collection have made a significant impact, and we applaud their dedication and commitment. Awards were also given to corporations, NGOs, and volunteer groups who have supported in donating refurbished electrical appliances to those in need. The awards were hand-crafted from recycled glass from WEEE.PARK, beautifully demonstrating the essence of the circular economy and the importance of sustainable practices. Following the award presentation, a panel discussion was led by Kenny Wong. The esteemed panelists shared valuable insights and perspectives on "E-waste Driving Circular Economy," inspiring us all to explore innovative strategies and solutions for a more sustainable future. The ceremony concluded with a networking session where attendees had the opportunity to connect and enjoy refreshments while capturing memorable moments with our upcycled art pieces and utensils reborn from our recovered materials. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who attended and contributed to the success of this event. Together, we are making a difference in shaping a greener and more sustainable world. #EwasteManagement #CircularEconomy #Sustainability #AwardCeremony #ALBAGroupAsia #ALBAIWS #HongKong
