Urban Putt closed the doors to its San Francisco-themed mini-golf venue on December 30 after nearly a decade in business, but that wasn’t meant to be the end of mini-golf at that location. At the time, Mission Local reported that Australia-based company Funlab would take over the space, and now we’re learning some details about the new business, which opens on Friday, July 19. The San Francisco Chronicle reports that along with an 18-hole mini-golf course, there is a full kitchen, two bars, and “several” private event spaces.

But what of the food and drinks? The press release promises “Instagram-worthy cocktails” and if the menu is any indicator, the company means business, err, fun — we’re talking signature shooters, such as the Kinky Boot, a vodka-based shot with peach liqueur and “some sparkle” served in what looks to be a shot glass-shaped boot; a gin and Aperol cocktail called Rub A Dub In The Tub that’s served in ... a miniature tub vessel with rubber duckies; plus a shareable cocktail for two poured into a trophy that will set visitors back $40. The food is otherwise classic pub fare, with bites such as burgers and chicken sandwiches; salads; snacks like grilled elote corn ribs and nachos; and pizzas, with an available gluten-free dough. Check out the full menu here.

Barrel Head Brewhouse to close

The San Francisco Chronicle also has the news that Barrel Head Brewhouse in San Francisco is closing this upcoming weekend. The brewery and taproom opened in 2014 at 1785 Fulton Street, and now co-owner Ivan Hopkinson tells the Chronicle that the business never rebounded following the onset of the pandemic. The planned closing is set for Saturday, July 13, but Hopkinson says he may keep the doors open another day for the 2024 Copa America final on Sunday. Barrel Head’s sister business Lost Marbles Brewpub will remain open.

Horsefeather team launches new project

San Francisco’s Horsefeather is a Divisadero bar and restaurant favorite, and now the team behind that business and Last Rites has plans to expand to Palo Alto, San Francisco Business Times reports. The news outlet reports that Horsefeather will move into a 4,000-square-foot space at the Town & Country Village shopping center near Stanford. No opening date was announced.

Foodwise Summer Bash is (almost) here

Foodwise is the nonprofit behind the Ferry Plaza Farmers Market and their annual summer fundraiser at the Ferry Building is set for Sunday, July 14. Foodwise Summer Bash is a chance to not just support the nonprofit and all of their initiatives and education programs, but it’s also a way to eat your way through the Bay Area in one party — 48 different restaurants, pop-ups, bars, and wineries will serve dishes to nosh on while strolling the building’s halls. Expect places such as 7 Adams, Dalida, Minnie Bell’s Soul Movement, and more at the event. The event is on July 14 from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tickets are available on Eventbrite, and for more details on the event head to foodwise.org.
