Malaysian esports media MyGameOn (MGO) was awarded the prestigious Esports Media of the Year Award at the inaugural Malaysia Esports Awards (MEA) 2023. For those unaware, the Malaysia Esports Awards is similar to the Oscars in terms of prestige and style.

The awards ceremony, which took place at the Putrajaya International Convention Centre (PICC) on January 27, honoured the remarkable contributions of key figures in the Malaysian esports ecosystem.

MGO faced tough competition from notable contenders such as WTM Today, Arked MY, Gamers Gazette MY, and Esportsmy. In the Esports Media of the Year category, media entities were acknowledged for showcasing excellence, innovation, and making a substantial impact in the fiercely competitive esports landscape.

“Alhamdulillah, starting out as an esports journalist, I never thought I would come this far,” said Hazril Md Nor, esports journalist and senior content specialist at MGO.

“Thanks to everyone in esports who trusted our platform and abilities. Let's keep pushing esports forward for our nation,” he added.

“We are thrilled and honoured to receive the Esports Media of the Year Award at the Malaysia Esports Awards. This recognition is a testament to our team’s dedication to delivering top-notch content and fostering the growth of esports in Malaysia,” said Samuel Wee, Chief Executive Officer at REV Media Group.

The Malaysia Esports Awards went beyond recognizing exceptional media organisations; it also honoured excellence in 16 categories, encompassing distinctions such as Esports Team of the Year, Player of the Year (Male and Female), and Organisation of the Year.

Among the noteworthy winners was Cheng “NothingToSay” Jin Xiang, who clinched three awards: Player of the Year (Male), MVP of the Year, and MOBA Player of the Year. Additionally, Natasha “Tashbunny” Hashim was bestowed with the Esports Host of the Year Award.
