Great news from our Danish customers Dagrofa Foodservice! "Much less food waste ✅ Much more time for customers ✅   In March, we started using the digital data control system Whywaste in our 30 Cash & Carry stores. The new tool, together with the great efforts of the employees, has paid off.    A new report shows that in six months we have reduced food waste from the stores by 112 tonnes compared to the same period last year.   In our Randers store, there is great joy about the clear progress – this is what Store Manager Jesper Andersen says: All employees in the store in Randers have loved using Whywaste. All our processes have become easier and faster. Our employees save a lot of time by using Whywaste. Therefore, we have also more time on our hands to talk to customers." The Whywaste/Invafresh team is growing! We're happy to welcome Martin Rohleder into our gang! 💪 👋 Hi, Martin! Can you tell us a bit about yourself? I was born in Chile, lived in several countries before moving to South Africa where I mostly grew up, before moving to the Netherlands in 2000 when I started my career in sales. I love meeting people from different cultures and work to have fun – always try to be passionate about what I do. I love animals, and always try to be kind to them, as well as to people. I live life by my motto: do one thing each day that scares you a little. 💭 As you live in Spain, what brought you to work with Whywaste? I just recently moved with my family to the North of Spain for a lifestyle change and to be more in nature. I am deeply passionate about tackling climate change, in particular about preventing food waste (my daughters refer to me as the Food Waste Hero). For the past 4 years I worked with companies like OLIO (to prevent edible food from going to the bin and instead share with the local community) and The Waste Transformers (to valorize unavoidable food waste on-site so that food waste is not “wasted”). Super delighted now to move right up the food waste hierarchy to prevent food waste in the first place (and bring financial benefits to the client from that), which is where our focus should be. The culture at Whywaste felt like a great fit, with a great team of people who I can learn from and collaborate with. 💭 What do you think you'll bring to the team? Passion for driving sales and for tackling food waste (and waste in general). A fresh set of eyes, and having worked in the big corporate world, large family businesses, and start-ups hopefully some great ideas to help drive a continuous improvement culture. Plus I believe in team work and collaboration as key to success, also to help build sustainable partnerships with clients. 💭 What is your no.1 motivation in your work life? To leave meaningful footprints by helping to change human behaviour. We are super happy to have you on board, Martin!

Today is the International Day of Food Waste & Loss, and what better day than this to highlight Stop Spild Lokalt and our very own Sofie Skovrup and Pernille Cock Jensen! Thank you, Rasmus Erichsen, for all your hard work! 💚

Today is International Food Waste Day and I would like to highlight three persons in my Food waste warriors network. Who would you like to highlight? 💚♻️🌎 #1 Matt Homewood, the founder of “An Urban Harvester” on Instagram in 2019 and the number one Supermarket Food Waste Campaigner who always have the last words towards the retailers and their food waste combat. Matt, keep up your amazing work. #2 Åsa Sandberg - No time to waste - Food waste warrior and an amazing friend. Always an inspiration source when it comes to challenge her and our surrounding when it comes to reducing of food waste. Extra proud over you today, present in Rome at a event United Nations for highlighting the global issue on the food loss and waste. #3 Markus Wahlgren Last, but not least Whywaste and Coop Sverige, Mr Food waste one and only. No one, and I mean no one, have so many ongoing food waste initiatives like this man and I encourage everyone working in Retail to visit Stora Coop Visby and Markus for a tour in his store. The initiatives are just amazing and all of them are worth mentioning somehow. Spill Gotland Spirit where reducing 8.8 tons of food waste by producing vodka from old bread, wheat flour, rice... The Student bag, a magic bag of food offered to students and pensioners reducing waste by 9.6 tons. Whywaste with 1.2 million SEK in increased profitability to mention some numbers. Stora Coop Gotland went from a food waste reduction by 95 tons 2019 and today 2023 the reduction is as low as 5.5 tons. Superb! Whywaste are happy and grateful for all the initiatives around the Globe where we are involved: SPAR International, Asda, One Stop Stores Ltd, DIA Brasil and Dagrofa to mentioning a few. #noplanetB #whywaste
