All that glitters is gold: We proudly honoured the top winners of our 2024 Toyota Logistic Design Competition at a spectacular ceremony held at the #ToyotaHouse in Paris. What a highlight to celebrate the winners in such a special setting! 🎉 The competition ends as we reveal the winners in each category: Industrial & Automotive Design 🏅 Nicolà Mauro Borrer from RCA Design Products (Royal College of Art) London, UK, with Micro Cab UI, UX & Service 🏅 Maren Javenes (UX designer) / Elise M. L. Almaas (Service designer) / Anne Selseng (UX designer) from the NTNU i Gjøvik (Norges teknisk-naturvitenskapelige universitet), Trondheim, Norway, with Enviru Business Innovation Design 🏅 Simon Lavender, from California State University, Long Beach, USA, with Bloom Charge Ian Cartabiano Award @Juyeong Son, Coventry University, Coventry, UK with Flex The idea behind this year’s theme was circularity. Since our planet only has one life, this time around the challenge was possibly bigger than ever. Monica Perez Lobo (She / Her), VP Sustainability at Toyota Motor Europe, was extremely positive: “Design is the first step towards sustainability: how materials are used, how vehicles can be dismantled and recycled in the future. I can see the students really have this mindset in terms of how to contribute to the planet and society with their designs, which is great.” Congratulations to all winners and a massive thank you to all who showed an interest or helped make it all happen. A next edition is already in the works! When you think of a warehouse, do you picture high storage racks and forklifts? It's time to update that image! Innovations in material handling are happening lightning-fast: 🚚 Trucks are now extensions of digitally controlled logistics systems, with drivers receiving real-time instructions. 🛑 Safety is enhanced by camera-based detection systems, warning against collision risks involving pedestrians, objects, or other vehicles. 🤖 Automation is the new norm, with goods moved by shuttle units in high-density racking systems. 💡 Industry professionals are now focusing more on electronically controlled systems than on manual operation. Just as athletes gear up for #Paris2024, pushing themselves beyond their limits and striving for excellence, we are committed to driving innovation and lifting you to new heights. Next time you think of a warehouse, imagine autonomous vehicles and other technological feats. That’s the new reality. Toyota Material Handling Belgium has equipped a brand-new warehouse for J.S.Logistics , a full-service logistics provider based in Belgium. With an increased number of customers, the demand for storage space and #logistics reached a point where a new warehouse became necessary. The solution provided has been designed keeping in mind not only the need for extra space, but also efficiency, flexibility and the possibility of further expansions. J.S. Logistics opted for classic pallet racks in combination with an induction-controlled narrow aisle truck, Toyota BT Vector VRE150. The racking solution comes with unique magnetic labels, synchronised with a warehouse management system.
