It is finally time for BioVentureHubs annual summer update. Please be part of our journey by digging into this edition. It is all about what we all care about, the future, the past, fantastic collaborations, change and growth... But mostly we think it brings hope... simply because we do everything together. Hope for a more sustainable future in our joint strive to actually contribute to what it´s all about - people, society and planet. We look back with joy on the truly exciting days we spent in Oslo last week, to follow up the collaboration between AstraZeneca BioVentureHub, Oslo Cancer Cluster, and Oslo Science City, which was kicked off earlier this year.  We had the invaluable opportunity to take part at the Norway Health Tech Festival and the Oslo Cancer Cluster summer gathering, in addition to aligning our initiatives, discussing the future, and establishing new connections with our partners, ecosystem players, and innovative companies. A heartfelt thank you to Guro Bjøntegaard and the AstraZeneca Norway team for meticulously planning and orchestrating a meeting that included everything we needed in fostering collaboration and innovation. A new, exciting strategic collaboration and partnership has been established. Boubou Hallberg Hospital Director at Sahlgrenska Universitetssjukhuset says "The strategic partnership enhances our efforts to become a leading university hospital in Europe. Sahlgrenska University Hospital has long collaborated with AstraZeneca in research and innovation. Now, we are taking the next step together. The results of this collaboration will benefit our patients and the entire life science sector". "AstraZeneca always puts the patient first. Therefore, it is extremely gratifying that we are now initiating a collaboration with Sahlgrenska University Hospital, where we can together strengthen both healthcare and the development of new drugs", Anders Persson, Head of Ecosystem Strategy & Projects, BioVenture Innovation Unit, AstraZeneca says. We wish the Cereno Scientific team a successful start to the new phase of their journey, growing out of AstraZeneca BioVentureHub, moving into the local and vibrant ecosystem of GoCo Health Innovation City. Founded in 2012 with support from GU Ventures, Cereno has evolved from a young biotech listed on the Spotlight Stock Market in 2016 to a thriving billion SEK company, with a phase II candidate. After uplisting to Nasdaq First North Growth Market in 2023 and raising over 500 MSEK in capital, Cereno engaged in successful joint ventures with other BioVentureHub companies, positioning itself for further growth. The Future of Life Science Symposium and the theme was creeping crises. Topics such as the pandemic, microbial resistance, and climate change all characterize happenings where it is just a matter of time, we kind of know it... Given all opportunities that actually exists and where we can come together in order to be more proactive, yet another creeping crise springs to mind - our collective inability to act upon opportunities. In this interview I got the opportunity to provide my reflections on a very interesting symposia arranged by Stockholm Science City. Thank you all for visiting the AstraZeneca exhibition at GoCo Open House the 29th. More than 600 life science enthusiasts came and the tenants, founders and partners, showcased their work in the long avenue, in their offices, on local tours, and on stage. The AstraZeneca site team, along with AstraZeneca R&D IT, presented a true reality live arena, demonstrating Augmented Reality, Virtual Reality, and other solutions from "Digital Lab," "Snake Study," and "Research Assistant." Additionally, the AstraZeneca BioVenture Innovation Unit team and BioVentureHub showcased innovation management thinking and discussed future collaborative possibilities, providing a compressed overview of our R&D site activities and our role as a founding partner in the local ecosystem, as well as the Swedish and Nordic ecosystem. Being situated with our exhibition area on the first floor and encouraging people to take the stairs was actually not bad at all. It allowed for meaningful conversations and relationship building in a calm and relaxed environment. Not only did we take care of our visitors, but Daniel Johansson from AstraZeneca BioVenture Innovation Unit also brought vibrancy and good energy to the opening panel discussion on "Powering Innovation Culture," alongside panelist Guillaume Cabrère, Volvo Cars, Julia Grönros Ribocure Pharmaceuticals AB, and Klementina Österberg (fd Jozsa),GU Ventures. Nicely moderated by Viktor Bakker, GoCo Health Innovation City. For those of you who were able to attend – thank you, it was great to see you. Proud, but not surprised that Nyctea Technologies, a AstraZeneca BioVentureHub company, have been named as one of twenty Life Science companies to the BioTools Innovator annual cohort, 4 month accelerator program. They are one of three from European Union, and the only company from Sweden. A big congrats to Gustav Ferrand-Drake and the Nyctea Technologies team, as well as our innovation partners Chalmers Ventures, for hosting and supporting them in the earlier phase, as well as their collaborative AstraZeneca scientists, at the R&D site in Gothenburg.
