Background There are specific guidelines regarding the level of physical activity (PA)
required to provide health benefits. However, the research underpinning these PA
guidelines does not address the element of social health. Furthermore, there is insufficient
evidence about the levels or types of PA associated specifically with psychological health.
This paper first presents the results of a systematic review of the psychological and social
health benefits of participation in sport by children and adolescents. Secondly, the…

G Hoek, RM Krishnan, R Beelen, A Peters, B Ostro…- Environmental…, 2013 - Springer
Current day concentrations of ambient air pollution have been associated with a range of
adverse health effects, particularly mortality and morbidity due to cardiovascular and
respiratory diseases. In this review, we summarize the evidence from epidemiological
studies on long-term exposure to fine and coarse particles, nitrogen dioxide (NO 2) and
elemental carbon on mortality from all-causes, cardiovascular disease and respiratory
disease. We also summarize the findings on potentially susceptible subgroups across…

Background Rice research has been enabled by access to the high quality reference
genome sequence generated in 2005 by the International Rice Genome Sequencing Project
(IRGSP). To further facilitate genomic-enabled research, we have updated and validated the
genome assembly and sequence for the Nipponbare cultivar of Oryza sativa (japonica
group). Results The Nipponbare genome assembly was updated by revising and validating
the minimal tiling path of clones with the optical map for rice. Sequencing errors in the…
